Princess Invitations You can easily find store bought princess invitations at a party supply store or you can make your own. We used a crown card for our party though you could easily do the same project with a castle or glass slippers for instance. On each one write, “Hear ye, Hear ye! The Royal Princess _____ requests the pleasure of your attendance at her royal birthday celebration.” Then just add the date, place, time and any other important information. You will need card stock and a crown stencil or template if you are as artistically challenged as I am. I found a stencil at a local craft store that worked great. We added stick on jewels and glitter glue to the crown. My daughter really enjoyed getting involved with this part of the project even if she ended wearing as many stickers as the crowns did.
Princess Decorations Decorate your home with pink, purple and white streamers with matching balloons. At a fabric store you can find inexpensive tulle to cover your table and drape like swags as well. You can also use it to decorate one of your chairs as a princess throne for the birthday princess. Just use some ribbon to tie it on as a slip cover. Treasure Hunt-Hide treasures from the royal treasure throughout your house and have the children hunt for them. Chocolate gold coins, rings and necklaces work well as the treasure prizes. Coloring crowns: So each child has their own crown to take home from the party, cut out crowns that wrap around their heads. Have the kids color and stick jewels on them. Then tape them to fit their heads. Wands: They can make princess wands to go with their crowns. Cut stars from card stock and give each child two starts. Have them decorate one side of each and then glue them to each other around a wooden dowel. Princess Ball: If you have enough dress ups for each guest, the girls could put on their princess gear and have a ball. Play music and give them ribbons to twirl. They will love leaping and spinning around with their ribbons. Kiss the Frog: This is a twist on the old favorite Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Find a frog poster or draw your own on poster board. Tape it up on the wall. Cut some lips out of cardstock or poster board and put some tape on one side. Spin the girls around and let them try to stick the lips as close as they can to the frog’s lips. Another alternative is Pin the Slippers. Have the kids try to put the slippers on the princess. For a simple yet elegant favor, put some assorted candy or jewels in some pretty tulle and tie it up with a ribbon. You could also decorate a small bottle of bubble and label it “Fairy Bubbles” using your computer. This is a neater version of the glitter fairy dust that I have seen used at times. As a Mom, I cringe when large amounts of glitter come through my door. Miniature sandwiches are a perfect dainty treat for the little princess. Cut the crusts off the bread and make regular peanut butter and jelly or ham and cheese sandwiches and cut them into quarters. Pink lemonade or fruit punch served in plastic goblets or teacups. You could also make ‘jewels’ in the form diamond shaped Jell-O. If you don’t like regular Jell-O, you can use Knox gelatin, flavored with a bright fruit juice like strawberry banana or grape for a more natural treat. |

If your daughter is like mine, she would love to have a princess party for her birthday. She will love getting dressed up and being treated like the princess she knows she is!
