Fun Chocolate Covered Pretzels PDF Print E-mail
Family Fun - Activities

I made these with the kids the other day. We had a blast even though my kitchen counters and my kids probably had more chocolate on them than the pretzels. It is a fun and easy activity to do with children.

Ingredients:
Large Pretzel Sticks(they are easier for kids to dip)
Chocolate Chips
Vegetable Oil
Sprinkles(any color, we used green and red since we did it during the Holiday season)
Wax paper

How to make it:
Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper. Break the pretzels in half and set aside. Put about half of the chocolate chips and 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a double boiler and melt. If you don't have one, you can put the chips directly in the pot on low heat, stirring constantly. Once melted, it should be slightly thinner than maple syrup when poured. If it needs thinning, add more vegetable oil until it reaches the desired consistency. Remove from heat.

Dip the ends of the pretzels in the chocolate and then roll in your sprinkles. Place them on the wax paper until hardened. Once they are hardened they are ready to eat!

*Note: the chocolate and pot will be warm to hot so this should only be done with children old enough to be careful. My 3 year old understands this but the readiness for this activity depends on the individual child.
