Date Night....In! PDF Print E-mail

romance date couple parentsSometimes it is hard to get a babysitter but that doesn’t have to mean the end of a romantic evening. You can create romance in your house…once the kids are in bed of course! Here are a few ideas to help you plan your evening.

Relive the Memories

Pull out your wedding video, an old photo album or your box of relationship memorabilia. Cuddle together and reminisce about the good ole days and why you fell in love in the first place. You might even see your husband tear up like mine does when he watches our wedding video.

Get Wild

Turn back the clock! Grab some of your old CD’s that you could never let go of and put them on. Dance with your man like you did back in the days before you had children. It is fun to let your wild child out every now and then together.

Be Decadent

There is nothing better than strawberries dipped in chocolate with champagne. Either make some ahead to time using this(link) easy recipe or try a fondue fountain. Cuddle together and feed each other the strawberries while sipping champagne.

Have a Picnic

Create an indoor picnic. If you have a fireplace, light the fire, spread a blanket and some pillows and bring the picnic basket. You can set the mood with your favorite music. Fill your basket with your favorite foods and open a bottle of wine. It is a fantastic way to relax and reconnect.

Go Back to High School

Have a movie night! Pop some popcorn or bring your favorite movie snack foods. You don’t have to chose a romantic movie if that isn’t your thing. Pick a movie that you both like and that brings back fond memories. My husband and I have an affinity for Singles and that would definitely be our choice for a date night movie. You can also try out a horror movie just for the cuddle factor if nothing else.

Go to a ‘Restaurant’

Try dressing up like you are going out on a real date. I know that those of us who are Moms rarely have a reason to get dolled up. Set a gorgeous table with flowers and candles. If there is room in the budget, order the food from a nice restaurant so you don’t have to worry about the cooking and cleaning. If not, have fun cooking the meal together. When the meal is ready, have your ‘date’ pick you up…or just locate you in another room in the house and bring you to dinner. Make sure he pulls out the chair for you too!
