Family photos?

Do you have a regular one taken? Is it just the kids, just immediate family or a big extended family event if you do?

Also photos taken yourself- are you usually in them or are you usually the parent behind the camera?

I used to be excellent about having the kids' pictures done, back when I only had two. ;) I had them done twice a year; for Christmas and in the spring/summer sometime. Since Eliza's been born it's been harder to manage, both because it's more difficult to find the time and because it's hard getting all three of them to take a decent picture! We've only had pictures of the three of them taken twice in 17 months. :( Dh and I are never in them....I'm waiting until I magically wake up 30 lbs. or so lighter before I'll spend money on pictures of myself. :rolleyes

As for ones we take I am almost never in them. Dh is SO not good with a camera. Not that I'm a great photographer but I definitely do better than he would. I feel like, if I want any decent pictures to commemorate something, I have to take them myself.

the 3 of us....We haven't taken them very often. We took professional ones when Shelby was 3 months and again when she was 4 for Christmas one year. We have had a few from our amusement park trips or if all the of us are at a family function(which rarely happens) and I think of it. :giggle I told Rob we should do a professional one this year.

my immediate family(parents, sibs, us)-We always try to get one when we are all together but it's hard since someone is usually missing(usually it's Rob. :giggle). I'm gonna try super hard to get one of ALL OF US this year though at Thanksgiving.

extended family(on my mom's side)-everytime someone gets married we get a HUGE family pic taken in the church. There is a TON of us so it's quite an ordeal. LOL

Mary, I know how you feel about pictures of yourself. I decided though a couple years back if I waited until I was happy with the way I looked, there would never be any pics of me so I got over it. LOL I cringe everytime I see a picture of myself but I try and focus on everyone else in the photo and not myself. :giggle

We havent had a professional family photo taken in years. (Since right before Isabella was born) I do try to get one of all of us together a few times a year though since I am usually behind the camera.

I'm SO bad at this! We only have ONE family photo and it's from 2004.

my SIL tries to organise one every year but I think the last one we had done was March 2005- we've gone from 6 to ten children between us since then! (Eden, Loks, Lucy and Ashton have all arrived since then!) we're due to have another done in a few weeks time- MIL is having one with all ten grandchildren done for her 50th birthday (and says she's going to mail it to FIL :rofl LOL and highlight the grandkids he's not yet met) My side of the family suck for having them done- my sisters gradutations, my wedding and my sisters wedding are the only ones we've had done since I've had kids.

As for ones we take ourselves- I am usually not in all that many, I tend to avoid the camera like the plague but the kids all photograph really well.

I used to take Joshua and Lisey a lot. And I took Sonia a lot when she was a baby too. Since having Zoe, though, I've only been a few times. It's partly because I'm busy, and it's hard to manage with four kids and partly because I've gotten more into photography myself.

This is probably a terrible thing to say because I'm really very much an amateur with the camera, but my last several sessions at a studio have turned out pictures that were far worse than what I could manage. And so it feels like a waste of time and money.

I do wish I had more pictures of me with the kids and with Steve. Since I'm always the one behind the camera, I'm rarely in pictures. If I want a picture of myself, I usually have to take it(which is what I did for my avatar :p yay for tripods!). I need to make friends with a fellow camera enthusiast.

I have had Delaney's taken three times (2 months, 6 months, and 1 year). In the first, Taryn was in them with her. We took family photos with the dogs three years ago for Xmas pictures, before Delaney. And a church family photo for the directory when I was pregnant. We're doing new family photos in a few weeks. Ideally, I'll do Delaney's every year, including some with Taryn. And family photos every other.
