I noticed a couple people mentioned something about their kids blowing their noses on the unusual milestones thread.
If your kids can blow their noses, when did they learn? And HOW did they learn?
I'm desperate for my kids to learn how, but they all breathe IN instead of blowing out.

I'm in the process of working on it with Trevor, but he usually ends up doing this rapid breathing through his nose instead of just blowing all the goo out lol. With mine, I would stand there with them and show them to take a big breath in(and I'd demonstrate- even to the point of booger-ing myself up if that's what it took lol) and blow it as hard as they can out of their nose without opening their mouth. It took some practice, but they picked it up!

I am not sure when the boys learned I just know that they can do it. But it has not been long since they learned probably this yr sometime so they were 3 and 4.
It took Madalyn forever to figure it out. I'd say she was past 5 before she really "got" it. JZ, on the other hand, who's always been more physically coordinated, has been blowing his nose for quite some time and he's only 3.5.

I'm not really sure how he learned. We'd show him but he would just make the noise through his mouth. LOL One day it just clicked.
Cailin learned when she was 1. I don't know how she learned because one of my friends taught her LOL Brayden doesn't really get it yet.

Taj knew how to do it when he was 3, then this past year he seemed to have forgotten and I just could not get him to figure it out. But now he seems to have learned to do it again, after a lot of sucking in instead of blowing out.
Gavin is 2 and he can do it already.

Oh I really don't remember when Ethan learned it, because it has been a while now, probably a year ago, when he turned 3 or earlier. (He will be 4 next month)

Uh...yeah. Apparently I suck at this :giggle
My kids are 6, almost 5, and 2 & NONE of them can blow their noses! To Tristan's credit, I've never really tried to show him. But Caleb & Joshua I have attempted to demonstrate about a zillion times & they either inhale really deeply or do the rapid breathing thing like Heather mentioned. Caleb once did it properly (by accident) & I got all excited & was going "YES! That's it! You did it!" . Then when he tried to do it again, he did it wrong.
I guess I'll just work on it some more.
