to parent meetings or activities at your child's school? If you homeschool, do you schedule activities outside of the home in terms of schooling?

I have gone to a few parent meetings and stuff, but felt very uncomfortable. All the other moms are older (and richer!) then me and they all know each other and are all standing around in groups talking and aren't very friendly to me. I have gone and said hi, I'm always friendly and smile and say hi to people but they all kinda gave me funny looks said a stiff hi and went back to chatting leaving me being the only person standing by myself at the side of the room. I went to a few things, hoping that it would get better once they saw me around more, but it never did so I stopped going since I felt like crying when I got home. I always go to any performances or anything like that that Rylan is involved in.
i go to all of them and i hold a seat on the governing body that makes all decisions for the running of the school my eldest 2 attend. I chose to stand as a parent govenor because i was so much younger, less affluent and more earthy/unconventional than the other parents already on the board- it was intimidating to do but i figured diversity was needed to try and be more representative of the parent-student body

We have lots of activities outside the home.
Church twice a week
Park Day once a month officially and about once a week unofficially. When it's too cold, we go bowling.
Craft classes at Michael's
Kids' Workshops at Home Depot
Museum tours - State museum, alphabet museum, etc.
Brattonsville (http://www.chmuseums.org/ourmuseums/hb/index.htm) - kids day on the farm, twice yearly homeschool days, etc.
we just went to a Billy Jonas (http://www.billyjonas.com/) concert last week
we go to a farm once a week to get raw milk and the kids play with the baby goats, dogs and chickens there
we went on an airport tour last month
craft parties
That's just to name what we're doing this month and last. :giggle We like to stay busy with family activities. :D
I'm kind of "out of the loop" at Thomas' school because he's the only child who goes part-time, so I'm the only parent who picks up their child at noon, and in the morning everyone is rushed. So, I rarely see any other parents, except for the few programs they have, and there aren't any parent organizations.
But, I do spend some time at the school when I pick him up, and I attend the church that the school is affiliated with, so I try to stay involved with what's going on that way.
I attend all meetings, programs, and other school functions. I help out as much as I can and have been on several schol betterment commitees.
