Ok, a few threads going on about prisoners rights at the moment combined with a local situation made me think of this.

If you spouse was (or is/has been) incarcerated would you "wait for them"?

Would the length of their sentence have an effect on this?

Would their crime have an impact on whether or not you chose to wait?

I think all of this would totally depend on the situation. I mean, i can imagine a scenario where imprisonment would not signal moral turpitude (so not murder, rape, molestation, etc.), and yes, I'd wait for him. That, of course, would depend on his attitude about the crime and the imprisonment.

My . . . I can't imagine my DH doing anything that would send him to prison unless it was done in protection of our kids and me. And if that were the case, of course I'd wait for him for as long as he was there.

But if it were for something much more serious that I couldn't understand why he did what he did, I don't know what I'd do. I guess it would depend on what he did, why he did it, how long he was going to be incarcerated, etc. I just pray nothing ever happens where we have to face this.

I'll just ditto that.

Ditto for me.

Ditto. I think that it's not really a question you can answer without a LOT of "if's".
