What was/were the reasons for your C-section?

I had planned to have Aidan naturally, no drugs, nothing. I had to be induced because of pre-eclampcya (sp?) at 38 weeks. After 24 hours he still hadn't really dropped so we did a C-section.
I was hoping for a VBAC with Colin but decided to schedule a C-section. If I went into labor I'd try and if I made it to my scheduled section I'd take it as God's will. I made it to my section date and had the section. Good thing too as my uteran incission had opened.

I have had 3. My first was an emergency after 21 hours. Her heart rate kept dropping. The second one was a precaution. The girls were only 20 months apart. I was told I had to have the 3rd once since I had 2 of them all ready.

Ignorance.
But officially: PROM for 24 hours, elevated white blood cell count, baby high, suspected large baby.

my daughter was breech and we didn't find out until halfway through my labor. She was feet first and I had pushed her left foot out before the c-section which then caused an emergency c-section.

Kaela was a c-section. They thought she was going to be too big.

I had Taj natural. Gavin was an emergency c-section, he was breech when I went in to labor and one of his feet was in the birth canal I guess. Mike said they took him out feet first. I had the option of either with Jonah but chose to have a c-section after hearing all the pro's and con's. My uterus was contracting when they did my c-section with him and they had a hard time getting him out.

B was an emergency c-section, after my membranes had been ruptured for 30 hours, and I'd been in labour for 28. He was still way up high, and I got to 6cm dilated. He was fine, but I was exhausted and clearly the labour was going nowhere, so he came out the sunroof. Good thing, too, as the cord was around his neck twice, he was posterior and had a 97% head.
J was a VBAC. I had a smooth labour and was 9cm by the time I got to hospital, so I even missed out on having my epidural. I did, however, manage a 2nd degree tear and had nasty granuloma following the birth. Oddly, his head was larger than his brother's, but he was positioned correctly.
R was a scheduled c-section. I didn't want to risk a 3rd degree tear, and my OB agreed that I had a pretty good argument for a c-section.
I had 2.
With Robert, I had gone 36 hrs of labor in the hospital and all the pitocin they can give you and only got 3cm. It was rough. They had broken my water 24 hrs before and had to do a c-section.
With Rhayan it was scheduled because my hospital didn't' do vbac's. It ended up fine though cause she was breech and backwards so I would have had one anyways.

12lbs. got me a C. Elizabeth was a scheduled C. I had wanted a regular vaginal delivery with lots of drugs but it was not to be. She started measuring big at 29 weeks. So, I got to spend lots of time with the ultrasound machine. It predicted that she would be either 9lbs. or 11lbs. I went to Physicans and Midwives and Dr. Adhoot told me he recommended a scheduled C based on the 3 ultrasounds and the fact that my family has big babies (I was 9.5 and my brother was 10.5) and we run really late. (Hey-it was the 70s.) I was a 44 week baby and my brother was 43. So, my choice was a scheduled C or most likely an induction and probable C if she was too large. I took option A. At least I knew when to clean the house before leaving for the hospital. I'm glad I had the C. SHE WAS 12 lbs. 11oz! No, I'm not kidding. The doctors all gasped. I remember telling my Labor and Delivery nurse that I want a vaginal delivery the next time and she laughed and said not to count on it. Maybe I should just have had them put in a zipper on my lower abdomen.:wail

The first three were natural births. Luke turned breech half way through labor and I had to have a c-section.

Caleb was a csection. I had been having contractions for awhile by the time I finally got to the hospital. So I got an epidural right away. Well the epidural completely stopped my contractions so they gave me pitocin to start them again. The Pitocin made Caleb's heart rate drop so they upped the epi again. Which stopped the contractions again. After repeating this cycle a few times and his heartrate dropping each time they gave me the pitocin they decided to go ahead and do a Csection. I still kick myself for getting the epi because i had a natural labor with Dylan and survived. :p
Then Izzy was a scheduled Csection.

I had vaginal births with the first two, but both times I was put on pitocin and didn't get the drug free birth I wanted. (Though I think I get some points for going through two pitocin births without an epidural! LOL)
I was actually about to schedule a meeting with a midwife to talk about having Eleanor at home when I found out she was breech. It was early on, so I figured she'd turn, but she didn't. She was a footling, too, so I'm very glad I had the C-section. Perhaps because she was breech, she stuck around longer than the other two did, and was born at 39 weeks by C-section. I had not gone into labor, so who knows how long she planned on staying in there. She got her revenge, though, by urinating on the doctors as they pulled her out.
Thomas was another breech C. We'd been so full of plans and firm commitments, too! We were ready for a natural birth experience, with Birth Plan in hand, the husband prepared to sternly ward off any epidural-happy medical staff, Bradley Method ensconced in my brain! Thomas, however, was not on board with our little scheme. He was quite happily head up, little butt and feet wedged down tightly into my pelvis, facing to the side and not to be moved. We found out he was breech at about 35 weeks, if I remember rightly, and scheduled an External Cephalic Version for just before the 37 week mark (we were supposed to wait until 37 weeks firm, but the doctor that I wanted and trusted was on the schedule only on certain days and so we went in early.) The Version not only failed, but also was so horrendously painful that we decided to forego another attempt and scheduled a C for 39 weeks. Again, Thomas wasn't on board, and my water broke two days later. It was all for the best, I believe, since he was wedged in in such a way, and his shoulders were so broad, that he got stuck about halfway and they had to shove him back in, turn him, and then pull him all the way out.
He, like Nora, got his revenge by peeing, though he only got a couple of nurses and missed the doctor!

Hahaha! B peed on the medical staff too. And one of J's first acts of life was to poop on me.

LOL Kristen. Eleanor showed them how she felt about being taken out before she was ready.

Wow Des, I didn't realise you had C Sections. :) Another common thing. :)
I had to have an emergency with Malachi. He was posterior right through my pregnancy. He went overdue 2 weeks, and so I was induced. He REALLY didn't want to come. I didn't even go into labour by myself. 24 Hours later I was 9 cm dilated but he heart rate went up, so went straight for a c section. After it we were both sick and I just couldn't handle it. It was the worst experience ever, so when I got pregnant with I's I was up and down about having another, but decided to because I really didn't want to go through it again.
(Funny this came up coz I was coming on to ask a question about sections. LOL)

I had Ian and Quinn via c-sections. They were measuring large and my ob suggested this would be the safest way to deliver them. He was worried about them getting stuck and me needing an emergency section.
He was right....
They were large....
Ian was 10 lbs. Quinn was 11 lbs, 11 oz.
