I buy a ton of yarn online, and since I'm addicted to Rowan yarns, I buy a lot of stuff from this one seller in England. Rowan yarns are English, and tend to be very expensive. My seller always offers the yarns at a relatively low price, and often with no shipping charges. I'm always stunned that they make money given how good the prices are, but they must, because they seem to move a lot of yarn. Anyway, I recently bought a skein of Rowan Kidsilk Night from them. For those who aren't fiber nerds, this is a blend of mohair and silk with some very delicate sparkles in it. I got a color that is new for the season, so not a discontinued yarn, for $12.50, which is a low price for Kidsilk Night, and no shipping charges. I'm in California, they're in England. It arrived two days after I got a notice saying it was shipped. They consistently send things that arrive within a few days. I do a lot of online ordering, and nothing arrives this fast unless I pay a billion dollars on shipping. I don't understand my magical yarn supplier's powers, but I sure am appreciative.

i would be willing to bet that its not coming from the uk.

the seller may be in the uk, but i would think that the product is behing shipped from somewhere more local to you

It is stamped by the mail service over in Britain, so it apparently is. I still don't know how it gets here so fast, but it's definitely coming from overseas.

postal service in Europe is super fast....well it is in Holland, I am not sure about the UK, but it has to be similar. I remember being able to post something in the morning and it get there the same day :eek (within Holland). My aunt will ship a package to us and it arrives within a couple of days.

how much does the postage say on it? You see in England we have airmail letter post and airmail parcel post- the letter one goes alot quicker so lighter items (like yarn) can usually get away with letter airmail and hence quicker- alot of my dads airmail stuff to the usa only takes 2 or 3 days as most of the sorting offices are local to the big airports and most the big airports have alot of USA flights daily.

Ah, maybe that's it, Beka. I'll check the package. It's really astounding to me that I can order stuff from Yorkshire, and it gets to me faster than stuff from Nevada.

boosmama- they must have shipped it surface mail not airmail- check what you paid for postage, they might have scammed you and charged for airmail but used surface mail (goes by sea so takes ages)

Kristen yorkshire is lovely to go visit and has a fantastically weird accent

Scratch that - I was getting it confused with another seller I order from! LOL They're in Staffordshire. Actually, they're in a federation of towns that includes one that is my surname!

I so want to visit Yorkshire. I was an avid reader of all of James Herriot's books, and I have a photo book of pictures that he took with the help of a photographer before he died. It's all the places that are special to him. They're gorgeous.
