They just started this new work/life balance task force at work and I emailed them to see if I could join them. I did this when I was still part-time and within a day found out I got the new position. Now my manager has stated that its not feasible for me to be out of the branch to attend these meetings :( We already have someone from our branch, who is a male, on this task force, so another person just won't work.
I explained how I would be the ideal person to be on this task force, as I am a mother with a young family, entering the work force full time and get faced with the challenges of balancing it all. This other person is a male, who doesn't have to worry about it, as his wife is a sahm and her parents pay for everything for them (ie. brand new van, their house, etc).
edited to add: I just got an email stating they still want me on this task force, and I can stay in the loop through telephone and emails :) So thats a good thing at least. I know they are serious about this task force.
Anyway, its a silly rant, but I am frustrated.
