Mirena

Okay I got the Mirena iud last month - I think I've had it for about a month and a half now. They told me I may have some spotting for a little while. I have had spotting every.single.day. I am just wondering if any of you with one experienced this. I mean I expected some on and off but not all the time. It's getting annoying and I can only hope it stops or I will eventually have to have it removed. I love the thought of not having to worry about bc for 5 years but the thought of spotting every day forever is enough to drive me crazy!!
Please someone tell me it is goign to stop - and soon!!!

I had spotting for about two months, and it was annoying. Since then, though, I have had such good luck with it. I had very heavy periods, and now I spot for maybe two days a month, to where I just need a pantyliner. So it should ease up soon!

I am glad to hear that your spotting didn't last Lori!! That gives me hope!!!

I'd be interested in hearing more about Mirena. I'm currently trying to decide between Mirena and Paragard.

I spotted for about 6-7 weeks with the Mirena, but it did end up going away and I only bled during my period times. I am one of the few women who did not get a significant reduction in the amount of bleeding during your period, but that seems to be unusual. Anecdotes and the Mirena company state that many women have up to 90% reduction of menstrual bleeding and some 20% of women have no menstrual bleeding by a year's use.

I've had both the Paraguard and the Mirena and think they're both very convenient, very practical, no-fuss birth control methods. The Paraguard gave me heavier periods, but the Mirena made me cramp more (however, I've never had a child so my uterus noticed the slightly larger bulk more--my midwife and others have said I'm the odd exception to the "Mirena lessens cramps" rule)

I'd still be using an IUD if I weren't going to TTC very soon.

I have it right now. They told me the spotting should stop after a month but it took about 2. I went for the Mirena because they said the Paraguard would make periods worse and when I'm not on any bc, my periods are awful.

I like it. I still get spotting every couple months, but only for a few days. I think the worst thing about it is that DH can feel it. I even went in and had the string cut shorter, but it still bothers him sometimes.

I had spotting every day for about two months also. Now I have really light spotting for about two days every month or so. No cramps and dh says he hasn't noticed the strings at all. I love it!

I spotted for about a few weeks and now have very light periods requiring only panty liners. I love having the Mirena, no thinking about b/c for 5 years. Dh has never said anything about feeling the strings.

That is strange to hear so many spotted for so long. I only had spotting for a week or two when I got it.
