Does anyone just show up at your house? If so, how do you feel about it?
My family lives far away so we always know when they're coming. My friends are not the type to just drop in either so we rarely have unannounced visitors. Personally, I like it that way but I assume that if my family lived closer, they'd drop by unannounced and I'd likely be okay with that too.

None of my family is close enough to drop in and neither do any of our friends really. Our friends here live over 30 mins away so it would be kind of a long drive out here to drop in not knowing if we were home or not.
When we lived in Italy every once in awhile someone would drop in since all our friends there were in walking distance. But it was usually to ask a question or just because they were walking by and stopped to say hi.

My friends and family have been known to stop by unannounced but not very often. Typically I don't mind, unless I am in the middle of doing something and I have to put it on hold. Or if my house is a pigstye.... which happens to be quite often. But I usually welcome the company, my dh works 3 nights out of the week, and those nights can get a little lonely!

Ditto Danielle and Kristi. Our family is all in Manitoba, so we know when they're coming. As for friends - majority we usually know are coming by - even if its just a 20min warning - we live out of town, so most people call to be sure we're home before coming over. Just my neighbor Jenn stops by with no warning at times, but its usually just to drop off something we've forgotten at her house.

Occasionally the neighbor's children show up unannounced at our house, but that's about it. Most people call before stopping by. Our family is all a distance from us, so I know way in advance when they are coming to visit. In plenty of time to drag out horribly ugly gifts that were sent to us that typically live in the closet downstairs.

my sister and SIL have been known to do that...but usually have a reason. My parents and IL's have done this before too...but only, maybe 2 times each, in 11 years....and with my parents, I knew that they'd be in the area and kind of expected them. They live 30 miles away where IL's only live 5 miles away.

Oh gosh.
Anyone who knows me knows that they can drop by unannounced and I will be fine with that. However, they also know that they should probably call first, as I am really very busy and #1 I might not be there #2 I might be working.
No one I know drops by unannounced. I have been known to not answer the door if I am not expecting anyone. I figure it is solicitors or lately JW's.

Not only do they drop by, but they let themselves in with my "in case I get locked out" key... :dunno

The only people that do just "drop by" are the one's I don't mind if/when they do. :giggle
My dad does all the time but it never bothers me- he's semi-retired, he gets bored, the kids love to see him and if he's around at school drop off/pick up time he'll often do it for me LOL
Most my urbz and all of Davids family call ahead- a couple of my urbz are complete wanderers and just show up whenever they are at a lose end or want to be fed or want a shoulder to cry on (I am mother to the many in that respect LOL) again it doesn't bother me as they've known me since i was 16 and take me as i am

For the most part we don't have unexpected visitors, unless it is my MIL. In which she comes in our garage and lets herself in. One morning I was on the couch, my daughter on the kitchen floor. I could see her and all of a sudden she looked like someone was standing there. I said Hello, my MIL had just walked in the house and I had no clue. I was pissed to say the least. I can't stand it when people come to my garage door. That is where my utility room and DH's bathroom, most of the time a complete mess.
