Most of the PCOS women I meet have cycles that were affected by it. Mine, so far, has not been.
Has yours? Was it the defining symptom? Or just one of them?

Yep- and to be honest until it came time to actively try to conceive it never dawned on me it was an actual medical issue. I've been known to go anything upto 10.5 months between cycles (with no pregnancy in between :giggle) on average I was looking at 3 or 4 cycles in an average year before the birth of Jude (and then discovered I wasn't ovulating in the majority of those either)
Since the birth of Jude I seemed to settle into a 5.5 week cycle but that obviously vanished with the BFing of Loki, I'll be interested to see how/if it returns after he's weaned.
oh goodness yes. It started when I was 19. I would go months without a cycle and then have brown spotting intermitent in between. It's never been regular since unless I was on the pill. But lately on the pill it hasn't been regular. It did however get regular if I dropped a significant amount of weight.
It was probably the first symptom and I just didn't know about it. I didn't start looking into it until my DH's cousin was diagnosed and we started talking about it. It just sounded so much like me.

Oh yeah, my cycle had been screwed up for years. I only discovered that I was not ovulating and the cause was PCOS when the Doctor did an internal ultrasound and found all the cysts.
Since my ovarian drilling surgery back in August thou my cycle has been like clockwork.............it is kinda weird and cool at the same time.

I didn't know the benefits of drilling lasted that long! Great!

Heck yes. I never had normal cycles. I would be lucky to have 2-3 periods a year during my teen years and then they would be excrutiatingly painful and heavy.
Then, at 17, I went on the pill for 3 months and had normal cycles for the first time ever. After that, due to a blood clot and the meds (any kind of meds screw up my cycles as well), I didn't have a period for over a year.
I started having regular normal cycles after going on the PCOS diet. I still wasn't ovulating though. It took metformin to kick start that.
Since having Sasha, I have had fairly regular cycles, much to my surprise. And we shall see if I am ovulating, now that we are TTC again :D
