Choosing this kid's name has been SOOO difficult! Our first two were named before they were even conceived, so this is new territory for us. We finally sat down just a few weeks ago with our final name list to narrow it down. I've been scouring the web, my aunt spent hours doing research on Bruce Willis movies for me...it's been a long haul! Why BW movies, you ask? Both Deklan and Corbin were named after characters from movies...The Jackal and The Fifth Element!

So after much deliberation we narrowed it down to our top three and then rated them. My #1 choice was Brodie and DH's #1 choice was Brady, so we each pleaded our cases and I won. Of course.

I love the name Brodie and it just works on so many levels...it's a "B" name (our first two are a "D" and then a "C" name, so we're sticking with the pattern!), it's got 6 letters (just like the other two names...yeah, I'm weird like that) and it means "Brother."

The problem? EVERYONE seems to be naming their baby Brody! Two people that DH went to school with have named their little boy's Brody in the past few months. What are the odds?! As much as it irritates me though, I think we're going to stick with Brodie. I just love it too much...and even though it's not as unique as his brother's names, and he might have to write his name as "Brodie M." in school because there are others that share his name, I just really like how it sounds. And I already bought the wooden letters to paint for the nursery wall! ;)

Now we just have to come up with a middle name. The fun continues!

I LOVE Brodie...that is what I wanted for Cody, but dh won on that one...should have held my ground ;) I was sure he was a girl so didn't put up too much of a fight. :giggle

What are the other boys middle names, Linda?

I'm glad to hear that you're making some headway. Madison will SURELY have to write Madison (last initial-if not WHOLE last name). I ran into woman at Kmart last week (she was my clerk auctually) who's daugther is MAdison Elizabeth too... and they're only 3 months apart age wise. Luckily they live in a different school district. LOL

Coming from a mom of an Emily, I say stick with it if you really love it. :)

Yes, I'm aware Emily will be one of many in her class. However, I'm sure she won't be scared for life. ;)

Thanks! No middle name yet. We were originally going with Brodie Ryan, but DH has decided that he wants a middle name that begins with an "A." Want to know why?! Our last name starts with an "M," so the poor kid's initials would be B.A.M.! He figures it would be a great nickname...Deklan is called "Dizzy" and Corbin is called "Rocko," so Bam would be just about right. My Grandma is voting for a Biblical middle name so it would go with the other two boys. We'll see what we come up with...a Biblical name that begins with the letter A...Adam, Aaron, Abraham...!

As for the older boys, Deklan's middle name is Paul and Corbin's middle name is John. They are both named for family members. I was really hoping for Donald for this kid as it was my Grandpa's name and he just passed away in October. Paul doesn't like it though, so that one is off the table.

;) I am partial to Ryan myself.

Brodie Aaron sounds nice together. "B.A.M." sounds like a very fitting nickname for you guys. :D

Fear not on being one of many- I look at it this way, they might encounter 3 or 4 at school growing up but how likely are they to stay in your home town? and school is the only time in our lives we socialise exclusively within our own age group.

I looked at this when we gave our kids intentionally unusual names- Jude is the only Jude in his entire school but if we were to move to my sisters town he'd be one of 3 in his grade, Chase has never met another Chase in her life- if she choses to go to an American or Canadian college she could meet countless male Chases- so although they have unusual names here as adults they might not.

Thanks, Cynthia! We chose Ryan for Ryan Theriot of the Cubs! Paul is a huge Cubs fan and we were actually watching a game on tv while discussing names. I just thought it sounded nice with Brodie.

Thanks for the input, Beka. You make a very good and valid point! I think we're just going to stick with Brodie...unless of course the kid comes out a girl!
