Twice today I have been hit with stupidity... UGH!!

The first time a lady who works in another department on another floor had come to my desk to ask me about something. She is looking around my cubicle at my pictures and says "This is the first I've had a chance to congratulate you on the baby so congrats. I've never seen pics of your kids before but I did hear through the grapevine they are mixed. Okay so when that paperwork is finished can you just interoffice it to D?" What is that? She turned and walked away before I could say anything - not that I could have at the time because I was still trying to figure out what she had said...when did my "mixed" (I hate that word and DO NOT use it to describe my children - just my own preference) kids become office gossip? Maybe she didn't mean anything by it but it really struck me wrong.

The second time someone else was asking about Kianna and how she is doing (this person knows about Kierra). I was saying that she is doing great but she is growing up way too fast for me. The lady said "well it sure beats the alternative." I, of all people, know that too well - thank you very much! I just thought that was an ignorant thing to say.

I am guessing I am just hormonally inbalanced today and I am just making a big deal out of something I shouldn't. But both times I just wanted to smack them upside their heads!! Okay rant over...thanks!!

As for the first woman, how bizarre. Why would it matter what your kids look like? BTW-a question from an ignorant person, what do you prefer for decribing your kid's skin tone? I never know what to say and I better find out before my brother and his wife have kids.;)

The second person made my jaw drop! Why on earth does a comparison have to be made in the first place? Kianna is Kianna and Kierra is Kierra. They are two distinct beautiful children. I don't understand why there needs to be a comparison at all. That is just hurtful.:hugs

Jo I know there are people who don't mind using mixed - my sister is one. She calls her son mixed and doesn't think twice about it. I, personally, just don't like it. I use biracial. If I am talking to close friends or family I use tan b/c that is what our family calls the girls (including Kamryn calling herself tan). Not sure why but mixed and other really bother me.

What an ingnorant thing for someone to say. :hugs Why would she even say anything about it at all. Why does it matter anyways?

And the second one!:unreal Why the heck would she say that to you. :eek Esp after knowing about Kierra.

:hugs I am sorry you had to hear such stupid things twice today.

:squeeze Emily. What an unthinking woman! IN fact both of them are. It still baffles me how untactful some people can be!

I hate the term "mixed" too, I also hate "mulatto" and "half and half" (yeah, they're like coffee cream-whatever). I too use biracial or multiracial if I have to explain but mostly, they're just Takara and David :D.

As for the other woman... some people have no filter between their brain and their mouth! :hugs
