Well. Do you?

I mean.... something that just reminds you of your life, or experiences, or whatever. However you choose to define it :D

Yep... and my mom actually found it for me. SUMS up my life in a few lyrics... "One moment in Time" by Whitney Houston.... word for word.

excerpts:
I broke my heart
For every gain
To taste the sweet
I've faced the pain
I rise and fall
Yet through it all
This much remains...
I want one moment in time
When I'm more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I'm racing with destiny
Then, in that one moment of time, I will feel eternity...

We played it right before my family left my house (in college) to march off to my graduation and there wasn't a dry eye in the room... I was the first in my family (on either side) to graduate university... and, I did it at an Ivy League school, with honors and practically free of charge... yep, that song sums it up!

I think our song for our family is Road to Nowhere by Talking Heads.

Well we know where we're goin'
But we don't know where we've been
And we know what we're knowin'
But we cant say what we've seen
And we're not little children
And we know what we want
And the future is certain
Give us time to work it out

We're on a road to nowhere
Come on inside
Takin' that ride to nowhere
We'll take that ride

I'm feelin' okay this mornin'
And you know,
We're on the road to paradise
Here we go, here we go

Chorus

Maybe you wonder where you are
I don't care
Here is where time is on our side
Take you there...take you there

We're on a road to nowhere
We're on a road to nowhere
We're on a road to nowhere

Theres a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

We're on a road to nowhere

Definitely "I Could Not Ask For More" by Sara Evans.

Lying here with you
Listenin' to the rain
Smilin' just to see
The smile upon your face

These are the moments
I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments I'll remember all my life
I've found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more

Looking in your eyes
Seein' all I need
Everything you are
Is everything in me

These are the moments
I know heaven must exist
These are the moments
I know all I need is this
I've found all I've waited for, yeah
And I could not ask for more

I could not ask for more than this time together
Could not ask for more than this time with you
And every prayer has been answered,
Every dream I've had's come true.
Yeah, right here in this moment,
Is right where I'm meant to be,
Here with you, Here with me ... yeah yeah

These are the moments
I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments
I remember all my life
I found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more

I could not ask for more than this time together
Could not ask for more than this time with you
And every prayer has been answered,
Every dream I've had's come true.
Yeah, right here in this moment,
Is right where I'm meant to be,
Oh Here with you, Here with me.
No I could not ask for more than this love you gave me,
Cause it's all I've waited for,
And I could not ask for more.
No, yeah yeah yeah
No I could not ask for more

The one for the life I have with Brian, is by (who else LOL) The Dave Matthews Band, Steady as We Go:

I'll walk halfway around the world
just to sit down by your side
I would do most anything, girl
to be the apple of your eye
Troubles they may come and go
but good times they're the gold
So if the road gets rocky, girl
Just steady as we go

Any place you wanna go
you know I'll be next to you
If it's treasure, baby, you're looking for
I'll search the whole world through
Troubles they may come and go
but good times they're the gold
So if the road gets rocky, girl
Just steady as we go

When the storm comes you shelter me
When I don't say a word and you know exactly what I mean
In the darkest times you shine on me
You set me free
Keep me steady as we go

So if your heart wrings dry, my love
I will fill your cup
and if your load gets heavy, girl
I will lift you up
Troubles they may come and go
but good times be the gold
So if the road gets rocky, girl
Just steady as we go

I actually have 3 songs that have been super significant over the years and for specific reasons. I don't know if I could pick one to be my theme song. So I choose all 3. LOL

The first is Wide Open Spaces (http://music.yahoo.com/track/1358945) by the Dixie Chicks. That song just speaks about my experience moving to Des Moines for college, dropping out, making some major mistakes and growing up.

The second is The Middle by Jimmy Eat World. (http://music.yahoo.com/track/1986795) When I was going through my PPD with Xander and really needing some confidence, I would blast this and really let the lyrics speak to me. It's one of those that makes me teary thinking about how it helped.

The last one is Bridge Over Troubled Water (http://music.yahoo.com/track/808440) by Paul Simon - preferably the version from Concert In the Park. This was for after I dumped my ex and was 'finding myself' before Eric.

And now, the lyrics:

"Wide Open Spaces"
Who doesn't know what I'm talking about
Who's never left home, who's never struck out
To find a dream and a life of their own
A place in the clouds, a foundation of stone

Many precede and many will follow
A young girl's dream no longer hollow
It takes the shape of a place out west
But what it holds for her, she hasn't yet guessed

[Chorus:]
She needs wide open spaces
Room to make her big mistakes
She needs new faces
She knows the high stakes

She traveled this road as a child
Wide eyed and grinning, she never tired
But now she won't be coming back with the rest
If these are life's lessons, she'll take this test

[Repeat Chorus]
She knows the high stakes

As her folks drive away, her dad yells, "Check the oil!"
Mom stares out the window and says, "I'm leaving my girl"
She said, "It didn't seem like that long ago"
When she stood there and let her own folks know

[Repeat Chorus]
She knows the highest stakes
She knows the highest stakes
She knows the highest stakes
She knows the highest stakes

"The Middle"
Hey, don't write yourself off yet
It's only in your head you feel left out or
looked down on.
Just try your best, try everything you can.
And don't you worry what they tell themselves when you're away.

[Chorus]
It just takes some time, little girl you're in the middle of the ride.
Everything (everything) will be just fine, everything (everything) will be alright (alright).

Hey, you know they're all the same.
You know you're doing better on your own, so don't buy in.
Live right now.
Yeah, just be yourself.
It doesn't matter if it's good enough for someone else.

[Chorus x2]
It just takes some time, little girl you're in the middle of the ride.
Everything (everything) will be just fine, everything (everything) will be alright (alright).

Hey, don't write yourself off yet.
It's only in your head you feel left out or
looked down on.
Just do your best, do everything you can.
And don't you worry what the bitter hearts are gonna say.

[Chorus x2]
It just takes some time, little girl you're in the middle of the ride.
Everything (everything) will be just fine, everything (everything) will be alright (alright).

When youre weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
Im on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

"Bridge Over Troubled Water"
When you're down and out,
When you're on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
Ill take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

Hmm....let's see. The Indigo Girl's song, "Galileo."

Galileo´s head was on the block
The crime was looking up truth
And as the bombshells of my daily fears explode,
I try to trace them to my youth

And then you had to bring up reincarnation
Over a couple of beers the other night
And now I am serving time for mistakes
Made by another in another lifetime

How long ´til my soul gets it right?
Could any human being ever reach that kind of light?
I call on the resting soul of Galileo
King of night vision, king of insight

And then I think about my fear of motion
Which I never could explain
Some other fool across the ocean yeahrs ago
Must have crashed his little airplane!

How long ´til my soul gets it right?
Could any human being ever reach that kind of light?
I call on the resting soul of Galileo
King of night vision, king of insight

I am not making a joke, you know me,
I take everything so seriously
If we wait for the time ´til all souls get it right
Then at least I know there will be no nuclear annihilation
In my lifetime I am still not right

i offer thanks to those before me
that is all i have got to say
´cause maybe you squandered big bucks in your lifetime
now i´ve to pay!
but then again, it feels like some sort of inspiration
to let the next life off the hook
but she will say "look what i had to overcome from my last life
i think i will write a book!"

How long ´til my soul gets it right?
Could any human being ever reach the highest light?
Except for Galileo, God rest his soul
King of night vision, king of insight

How long
(´til my soul gets it right)
How long
(´til my soul gets it right)
[til we reach the highest light]
How long

Mine would be "I'm A Survivor" by Reba... that song has been me to a tee at different points in my life plus I always feel a little stronger when I hear it nowadays because of the cancer stuff.

A new one is also "Stand" by Rascal Flatts. I just heard it the other day but WOW it hit me hard and again, made me feel a little stronger and totally goes with how I walk through life.

I'm A Survivor

I was born three months too early
The doctor gave me thirty days
But I must've had my mama's will
And God's amazing grace

I guess I'll keep on livin'
Even if this love's to die for
'Cause your bags are packed and I ain't cryin'
You're walkin' out and I'm not trying
To change your mind 'cause I was born to be

Chorus:
The baby girl without a chance
A victim of circumstance
The one who oughta give up, but she's just
Too hard headed
A single mom who works two jobs
Who loves her kids and never stops
With gentle hands and the heart of a fighter
I'm a survivor

I don't believe in self-pity
It only brings you down
May be the queen of broken hearts
But I don't hide behind the crown
When the deck is stacked against me
I just play a different game
My roots are planted in the past
And though my life is changin' fast
Who I am is who I wanna be

Repeat Chorus

A single mom who works two jobs
Who loves her kids and never stops
With gentle hands and the heart of a fighter
I'm a survivor

But I must've had my mama's will
And God's amazing grace

Stand

You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless like you've lost your fight
But you'll be alright
You'll be alright

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause it's all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you stand
Then you stand

Life's like a novel with the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon with only one way down
Take what you're given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause it's all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you stand (then you stand)
Yea, then you stand (then you stand)

Everytime you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place, yea
Ooohhh

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause it's all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you stand (then you stand)
Then you stand (then you stand)
Yea, then you stand (then you stand)
Yea (then you stand)
Ohhh (then you stand)
Ohhh (then you stand)
Ohhh (then you stand)
Ohhh (then you stand)
Then you stand

Yes. If Only by Hazel O'Connor.

What do you do when they turn out the light?
You guard your heart, so they steal your sight
You reach out in blindness, touch the alone
His icicle fingers chill you to the bone

What do you do when the cat gets your tongue?
No way to tell it's all going wrong
Mouth out the words on the telephone
Nobody answers, nobody's home...

What's done has been done, and I won't be the one
Who despairs in the wheelchair, resigned to "If only"
No, I'll stand up again and I'll run
I'll jump up till I touch the sun
Because I won't be the one to be bound
By the sound of "If only, if only, if only"

Well, I reach out in blindness now, but what do I care?
I'll walk into walls and I'll stumble downstairs
I'll laugh like a fishwife, I'll cry like a clown
Up is the only way to go when you're down

When I reach a mountain top, then I start to climb
I'll walk on the water, I'll turn water to wine
Hope is the one thing we got on our side
Hope can be salvaged when all else has died

What's done has been done, and I won't be the one
Who despairs in the wheelchair, resigned to "If only"
No, I'll stand up again and I'll run
I'll jump up till I touch the sun
Because I won't be the one to be bound
By the sound of "If only, if only, if only"

What's done has been done, and I won't be the one
Who despairs in the wheelchair, resigned to "If only"
No, I'll stand up again and I'll run
I'll jump up till I touch the sun
Because I won't be the one to be bound
By the sound of "If only, if only, if only"

And this one. For reasons I won't go into here. Let's just say this song got me through a tough time.

Me And A Gun - Tori Amos

5 AM
Friday morning
Thursday night
Far from sleep
I'm still up and driving
Can't go home obviously
So I'll just change direction
'Cause they'll soon know where I live
And I wanna live
Got a full tank and some chips
It was me and a gun and a man on my back
And I sang 'Holy Holy' as he buttoned down his pants
You can laugh
It's kinda funny
The things you think at times like these
Like I haven't seen Barbados
So I must get out of this

Yes, I wore a slinky red thing
Does that mean I should spread
For you
Your friends
Your father
Mr. Ed
It's me and a gun and a man on my back
But I haven't seen Barbados
So I must get out of this

I know what this means
Me and Jesus a few years back
Used to hang
And he said "it's your choice, babe
Just remember
I don't think you'll be back
In 3 days time
So you choose well"
Tell me what's right
Is it my right
To be on my stomach
Of Fred's Seville
It's me and a gun and a man on my back
But I haven't seen Barbados
So I must get out of this

And do you know Carolina
Where the biscuits are soft and sweet
These things that go through your head
When there's a man on your back
And you're pushed flat on your stomach
It's not a classic Cadillac
It's me and a gun and a man on my back
And I haven't seen Barbados
So I must get out of this
I haven't seen Barbados
So I must get out of this
