As in your bills; or do you prefer to make them all electronic transactions (ET)?

I'm of two minds; I know it's better for the Earth and I can save oodles of money doing only ETs. Especially from my US Dept of Education student loan-they said they would shave 25% off my final tally if I use only ET with them. I'm thinking about that one...but I'm still not ready to go that way with my credit cards or banking statements.

We pay everything online but we still get the bills in the mail.

We do everything online and use e-billing for most things. I love it that way, no paper hanging around.

I do mostly paperless. Less clutter, fewer trees used for paper, and less energy used in transmitting the information to me(it can arrive electronically instead of traveling over land and sea to get to my house).

Do you print out statements so that you have a record? This is what I'm terrified of-no way to prove an error.

We haven't had any issues yet with our online statements, and from working in the credit card industry, I know that online records go back quite a ways. Soooo, I tend to not worry about it as much.

Well, I always check the statement to make sure it's right, and like Shana said, they're available online for quite a ways back. What kind of error are you worried about? One from the credit card? or one from the merchant?

One from the credit card or cell phone company. Yes, I'm a nerd. I check every line. But right now, CJ and I are fighting an unknown charge of $574 at an Atlanta Home Depot. Sheesh!

In a case like that, you're taking care of it promptly, though. It's not like you needed your last five years of paper statements to get that taken care of. I think if you check everything(and you're not a nerd! you're being responsible!) as soon as you get the statement and it's all correct, you can freely shred it.

We do e-billing for the simple reason I think our postman is on smack- whether he remembers to deliver the mail or not seems to vary with the weather, the day of the week, the colour of the flowers in your garden (you get the picture!) so having ebilling means i at least DO get them!

I have annual summaries of all my utilities sent to us, and my bank sends statements quarterly not monthly. I have access to my banking on line.

I do check my online statements with a fine tooth comb- definately frugality nerd here, i like to ensure we're not being scammed for things we're not using (like our broadband provider tried to continue charging us a anytime dial-up package as well as the broadband one!)
