I finally got around to buying The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FKite-Runner-Khaled-Hosseini%2Fdp%2F1594480001%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks %26qid%3D1200700254%26sr%3D8-2&tag=spiffymcom-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325). There was a thread awhile ago where people mentioned that they wanted to read it also and we should do a book club.

Well, here it is. :D I'd love to start this. Please answer here if you'd like to do this. But only if you're serious about it. I don't want to commit to the time for this and then everybody flakes out on me.

I figured we could divide the book up into 4 parts and discuss one part every two weeks. That should keep us busy for awhile. And allow people time to read. If we end up reading faster, then we'll move up the discussions. Or, we can just read the book by a certain time and discuss the whole thing from there. Let me know which way you'd like to do.

Let me know any ideas you have and what you think. I've never really done one of these. Hope some of you are interested :D

Oh, I'd like to do that but I'm about 1/4 of the way through a book right now and it's about 900 pgs. and I'm not someone who can read 2 books at once. I'm a fast reader though... a week should be enough time for me to finish this one and another week should get me 1/4 of the way through that one.

I'm in. A fourth every two weeks sounds very doable.

Could I chime in on the discussions since I've already read (and LOVED) the book?

I promise no spoilers. ;)

Count me as another person who has already read it -- LOVED it. I'd love to chime in as well :)

I may chime in a bit, having read it, but it's been a while since I did. So I will keep my mouth shut unless I have a solid recollection of what's being discussed, rather than posting just to say, "I don't remember that part!" LOL

I also found it pretty depressing so.....y'know. Don't know that I'll be joining in the love-fest.

I am in! I need something new to read outside of my usual fantasy choices.

My only problem is that I can't stop when I am into books. So I will probably have it done within the first week.:giggle I promise not to give spoilers...once I know what they are.

I just finished reading it last week. Great book! So I'll join in the discussions.

I'm in too. I've read it, but I wouldn't mind re-reading it and being able to discuss it. :)

Count me in!
I will have to wait until next week to pick up a copy, but that will still give me time.

I'm glad there's such an interest :D I'll post another thread later today about how far to read and when to start chatting. I'm thinking we'll start the first week of February to give everybody some time to read it.

I will let you know if I can. I want to read it but they never seem to have it in at our library when I go. We will go in the next few days. If I get it I will post here.

Oh I want to read that book! I need to see if I can get it from the library. I just finished his other book A Thousand Splendid Suns and it was really good, I could barely put it down, even though at some points I wanted to! I'll see if I can get my hands on it.
