Knitting for other knitters

How do you feel about knitting for other knitters? Do you like it because you know they'll appreciate the work you put into the project, or do you worry they'll notice all your mistakes?

I'm making a baby sweater for a friend of mine who knits, and right now I'm leaning towards the "Oh no, she's going to notice all of my uneven stitches!" feeling.

Yeah, I worry about mistakes. I am not a perfectionist in many ways, and if I know it's not something that will bother me every time I wear it, I leave my mistakes alone. I'll rip for something that truly bothers me, but that's it. Actually, I just made the front half a sweater this week. I made the back half last year around the same time. The bottom cables on the back half are consistently messed up. I know it will bother me a little, but it's consistent and on the back, so I'm leaving it. (Also, it was knit from the bottom up, so I'd have to rip it all the way back.) But for another knitter? No way. LOL

I don't knit, but I know if I made bread for a baker, or a scrapbook for a scrapper, I'd be feeling the same way!(at least, if the person was an accomplished baker or scrapper).

Oh, I would worry about my beginer status showing way too much.

I think I'd rather knit for a knitter than anyone else. They can really appreciate the time, effort and yarn that goes into a project. Until I started knitting, I had no idea all the techniques and fancy yarns there were out there!

I don't mind knitting for someone that know the effort, though, even if they don't knot. I have a good friend who watches me knit when I'm at her house and she's really appreciated the two gifts I gave her this year.

I don't really know any other knitters IRL. I probably wouldn't knit for one if I did though.

I am trying to learn how to crochet, and I appreciate any gifts I get.

I would hate to give a gift though because I would wonder how bad someone thought of my mistakes. LOL
