I love a glass of wine at dinnertime, its just nice and relaxing. Throughout the week, we probably drink two bottles a week (between the two of us). we are going to look at bottling our own wine, as it works out to $3/bottle vs. $10/bottle.

I never have. :p After I finish nursing Z, I intend to open a bottle we have, though.

Brian and I decided we will not drink during the week, for many reasons, one of them being we don't need the extra calories.

Now that said, I love wine, and I drink it on the weekend :D I hope I don't drink enough of it, however -- to make up for the calories I am supposedly cutting during the week!! LOL

I like a glass of wine w/dinner too, Jenny. Or just in the evening while relaxing, watching TV :)

Oh wait! And that's a glass of wine on the table behind me, in my siggy pic. See. Told ya LOL

We drink a bottle of wine every so often - more often lately. We love wine, and have it with dinner usually. I love chardonnay, and he's come to love it too, though he was a red wine guy when we started dating. Lately, I'd say we have about a bottle of wine every two weeks, but usually it's longer between them.

I'm only to have wine maybe once a month if I'm lucky. For some reason, ever since my surgeries wine makes me very sick (I even got sick off the champagne at my own marriage ceremony. lol). So once in awhile I can have a glass or two but that's it for awhile.

If it wasn't for that though I probably still wouldn't have it more than once a month because I'm just not a big drinker- casual or otherwise. I think I spent too much time as a bartender in my younger years. :D

I vacillate. Something about my taste-buds make me only like the flavor of sometimes. Other times all I can taste is the alcohol and that's nasty!

I tend to average a glass of wine a week or so, with the occasional hard cider. Of course, it's usually 2-3 glasses in one week (to finish the bottle, of course!) and nothing the next, but it works.

Currently nursing Loki so i don't and spent the best part of 9 years prior to his arrival either pg or ttc so didn't drink then but when i do i can't stand wine- tend to be more of a spirits drinker when i can/do drink

Pretty rarely, but that's because we don't really think about it and not because we have any objection to it. Once in a while if I'm making a dinner that seems like it would go really well with a glass of wine, I'll pick some up or have Sean pick up a bottle on his way home from work. We'll usually have a bottle of wine last at least one or two months, and I end up using most of it in cooking, because we have to really be in the right mood to want wine. But, if we are in the mood for it, and it goes with the meal, then we really enjoy it.

Only at Christmas, when my parents get a bottle. Dave doesn't drink, I rarely drink, so we never buy it for ourselves. Once in a long while I'll have a glass if I go out for dinner with a friend, but not often.

Less than once a month.

My grandfather was from a New Orleans family that had retained many French customs. He always drank a hearty red wine with dinner. My parents too often had wine with dinner when I was growing up, and now my dad is a bit of an oenophile.

I still don't much care about wine or any alcohol really. I can take it or leave it, and usually I'd rather leave it.

I'm beginning to feel like a real hedonist! Ah well - I suppose as long as we don't become lushes we're still OK.

On a strange note, the last bottle of Charles Shaw (Two Buck Chuck) we bought was very, very good - better than the wine I bought while wine tasting. I have no idea why this should be, and it has me bewildered. It did not taste the same as the bottle of Charles Shaw we had before that.

The last time I had wine was April of 06 when we were on vacation, we went to a really expensive restaurant in Baltimore, just because we never ever do things like that so we figured we might as well get an expensive wine too and it sucked so bad! We both hated it but drank it down because it cost so much!:giggle Haven't had wine since.

I have honestly never tasted a wine I liked. Mike doesn't like it either. I'm more of a mixed drinks person and Mike is a beer drinker (although neither of us drinks that much).

Here I am at Eric's work's Christmas party chugging down a $1200 bottle of wine ...

Just kidding ... well, it really did cost his boss $1200 but I definitely wasn't chugging it. I took one sip an thought it tasted like dirty socks. LOL I am not much of a wine drinker. ;)

I like wine now and then but we never have it anymore. I used to love to get a glass when we went out to dinner in Italy. There was one place we went to that made their own and we would buy some and bring it home with us. It was divine. :D We used to go eat there often just to buy some wine to bring home. :giggle

Not very often - I never have liked the taste of wine. Now if we are talking about mixed drinks that's a whole 'nother story!! ;)

Corey that picture is too funny!!

:rofl Corey - that is hilarious :D

I don't drink wine that often because we usually just don't drink at home. We only have alcohol in the house if we are having a party or people over for dinner. I might have one if we go out to eat w/o the kids.

I used to not know what I liked in a wine. Then we had a wine-tasting at the Christmas party we host a couple years ago and I fell in love with Shiraz. Yum! I love the smokey, spicey flavor. And the Australian Shiraz are my absolute fave.

Jenny

Corey I am laughing so hard right now

Brooke, I used to be a Shiraz girl too until I found this awesome blend which is a Tempranillo (sp?) Cabarnet Savigion (Okay...really CAN'T spell that, I even tried to get my French speaking kids to spell it, but Tanner is like "Ma!...I can speak French, but can't spell french wines...c'mon!!". Its like a Shiraz blend, but with a lighter taste.

If you like Australian Shiraz, try a Argentinian Melbac

oh and Kristen if you feel like a Lush, how do you think *I* feel starting this thread saying "oh we usually have a couple bottles of wine in a week"

I have a glass of wine almost every night. Some nights I will have two, but usually it's just one after I put Alison to bed. I like to enjoy it whilst getting my fill of celeb gossip on Entertainment Tonight.

I like white wine okay in the summer, but I'm pretty much a red wine gal. Our household standard is Yellowtail Cab/Shiraz blend, it's cheap and pretty damn tasty. :happydust

Well in my non-preggy days, we would chug through a couple of bottles a week.
I like to drink Sauvignon Blanc with the girlies (usually a New Zealand one), my faves are Allan Scott, Wither Hills and Oyster Bay, so look out for them.
But with dh I usually drink reds, we like Pinot Noir and Merlot, but have a soft spot for Italians after drinking lots in Europe :)
Valpolicella is my fave variety :D

Love the pic Corey!
Rachel, we drink a lot of cheap and cheerful Yellowtail wine too!

This is a typical me out with the girls:

oh good Rachell and Sarah...I don't feel like such a lush now LOL (not saying you are ;) )

My MIL used to work at a VQA wine store (VQA is some type of elite brand of wine label that you can only sell "VQA approved wine") anyway, cheap and cheerful apparently sells up here, but nobody can keep it in stock, as its the ONLY wine for around $5.

I :lovealot wine, and I probably have 3-4 glasses per week, most often after the kids are in bed for the night. I sometimes have a glass at dinner on the weekend, or when we eat out (which is very rare indeed).

Jenny and Kristen, don't worry. We are big wine drinkers here as well. I would have at least 2 bottles a week if I wans't nursing. So now, instead I have a glass every few nights once Sasha is asleep. I LOVE me some chilean merlot though right now I'm loving Chilean cabernet sauvignon, specifically Casiliero del Diablo. That winehouse has been my favourite for the past few years.

I do enjoy a lovely chablis on occasion as well.

Joey will occassionally drink it. It is usually during the holidays at his parents. Wine makes me sick so I don't drink it. I found I don't like the taste of most of it.

I allow myself a glass or two of wine every couple of nights, but that said, I don't always drink it.

This week, however, I have drunk a lot of wine, but that's mostly because I've been taken out twice for birthday dinners, and I didn't pay attention to the fact that other people were keeping my glass topped up.

As for what I like to drink, it always varies. Last night it was Champagne, on the weekend it was more champagne and a seriously good Sauvignon Blanc made at a winery about half an hours drive from me. Another recent good find was a cheap but good french rose that I shared with a friend while we had a picnic on the beach. I do love my Australian wine though.

All that said though, I mostly drink reds...and they have to be Australian.

Kate- I adore the WolfBlass Eaglehawk Cab or the Reisling! I'm a HUGE fan of a good Aussie wine :D.

I so don't fit in! The last time I had wine was when I cooked with it. I would rather have a cold beer any night.

Brooke

LOL Jo. It took me a long time to appreciate a good wine. And it wasn't until my wine tasting that I knew what I liked. I had to have my hand held and walked through what I liked. LOL

You're right, Danielle, Wolf Blass is really good. Banrock Station isn't bad either if you can get a hold of that.

I'm not a huge beer fan generally, but there are a few beers I just love, and I'd rather have one of those than a glass of wine, hands down. I don't have any wines that I really love.

We very rarely drink(never thought I would say THAT LOL) but when we do I LOVE wine. On new years eve I drank over 3Litres of wine. Yes I was little tipsy, why do you ask? :lmao

Jenny, my parents used to make their own wine and beer and it never came out cheaper because they would just drink a little more LOL My dad used to LOVE making wine.

The only time I really get into wine is with my Uncle Pierre. he isa totally rad Frenchman who knows a lot and has really great eyes and tastebuds for wine. Unfortunately I only see him once a year or maybe once every 2 years.

When my dad died he came over from Paris with my dad's sister, his wife, and we plowed through 8 or 9 bottles in 1 night. I was ugly, but the wine was really, really good stuff he had sent me from France.

Like Jo I really prefer a good cold Schell's beer anytime.

Yum! I love Two Buck Chuck, only it's Three Buck Chuck up here in WA. I probably have one or two glasses of wine every two weeks or so... It really depends on what we have at home at the time. I don't like the super sweet wines, more of a nice red wine type of gal!

I'm not a huge fan of wine...I've had grape wine before and that was pretty good. It is too expensive for me!

Now that we're discussing beer, I probably have a favourite beer list that's equally long.

This weekend I drank Corona, but only because our lime lady from the Farmers' Market slipped us a few free limes to go with the stuff we were already buying, so some of the limes made it into the chicken I'm roasting tonight, and the other made it into my beer.

Other than that, I love Stella Artois, Becks, James Boag Premium, Heineken and Coopers Sparkling Ale and Coopers Pale Ale.

Yeah.... if I wasn't trying to lose this darn 20 lbs for our wedding, I'd have a glass (or 2!) every night :)
