Since I'm contemplating TTCing in a few months, I will be looking for a new OB/Midwife practice. I really liked the midwives at the last practice I was at but the majority of the doctors kept expecting me to have something go wrong during pregnancy. One of them actually told I was "definately" going to develop gestational diabetes; when I didn't, I got to take another glucose test. FYI-my insulin remained completely normal for the whole pregnancy.
I also felt that being overweight, caused by PCOS, made more doctors treat me differently than other overweight people. This ranged from, "Your PCOS weight gain will cause us to watch you more," to "At least YOU have a reason."

I didn't really get treated differently. However, my doctor did tell me that I should have had an early dating scan since I conceived with metformin. Since I have a blood disorder, I have to take heparin during pregnancy and it is handy to know when your more likely EDD is if you want to have an epi.
other than that, I was asked to take the glucose test. This was only because I have PCOS. The glucose test is not a routine test. So I got to do the 4 hour one. Blech. Not to mention, while I didn't have GD, due to screwy fasting levels, I got to spend about 2 months as part of the diabetes team before they concurred that I was my PCOS screwing the levels, not GD. So I got to go back to my original OB (and get to stop the stupid glucose tests and long waiting times as the diabetes clinic was a public one).
This time around I'm looking into the community midwives scheme where I'll be dealing just with midwives and should be able to leave the hospital a few hours after birth. I'm not sure if I qualify though due to the blood disorder and what happened to Sasha after her birth. Keeping my fingers croosed though.
no but really because I haven't been officially diagnosed with it. Now since I've been diagnosed with Insulin resistance i'm kind of expecting something different. I'm smart enough though to not let anyone bully me. I'm more prepared now than I ever used to be.
