This is what DH wants for his birthday. All he said was key of E. I'm trying to do a little research about brands, good instructions books/CDs/DVDs, etc. Wondering about the neck holder thingys too. Can anyone out there give me any suggestions?

I have no idea. But I'd suggest buying yourself earplugs while he practices. :giggle
Good luck with your search :D

I already get to listen to him practice guitar 24-7. He actually plays in the dark in bed while I'm trying to go to sleep. And he has drums. The harmonica can't be that much worse.

I'd say a harmonica will be no worse than drums. :giggle
But, I have no helpful advice for you.

maybe try a music forum just to research. i have no clue where one would start with a harmonica, but i play several instruments and usually research brands before purchasing.

My husband always buys Hohner harmonicas. You can buy a set of them that comes in a nice little case.

I did end up buying a Hohner Harmonica and a neck holder thing, plus a book from Amazon. Hope I did a good job!

i would pick key of G or C before E
i dont know why
but think they're good for a lot more songs to jam with other guitar players
but eventually if kid gets good, you'll need one in every key!
i think D was my first key
