I volunteer for Ronald McDonald House. I usually switch between two jobs. One is working a waiting room at one of the children's hospitals here. The other is checking people in to RMH and odds and ends around there. From time to time they sponsor events and I have worked those too. I love doing it. I think RMH is a wonderful organization and have done so much to help families (including mine). I remember some of the wonderful volunteers I dealt with in the past and hope I can help make someone's day a little easier now. Sometimes just having someone to talk to on those long, lonely hospital days really makes a difference.

I volunteer at the congregation I go to as an RE Board memeber, teacher, and helper. I also volunteer at my son's school every week to help with games and stuff. I was also the room mom for his classroom this year. I also volunteer, when I can, with fiber arts things.

I'm the Librarian for our LLL Group. :D I've also been known to work the County Democrats table at elections.

I don't really volunteer anymore. When I was at the other site, I did consider that volunteer work. But since I'm not doing that anymore, I can't say I do anything.

I am looking forward to working for campaigns this coming presidential election though. I definitely want to help out.

No. But I would love to find something that I loved doing and help out somewhere. Maybe I can find something at Dylan's school next yr since Tim is off 4 days a week. :)

I am on my local women's club board as a corresponding secretary. I am involved w/a local non profit parents group. I volunteer at my son's school. I also participate in fundraisers and donate to fundraisers thru my business.

One day when my kids are grown, I want to be a labor doula for moms who don't have someone to be w/them in the delivery room and I will have a scholarship fund for HS girls.

I volunteer at a church kids' group once a week as a leader for the 11-12 year olds. It's a lot of fun, and there is one kid in particular who is a bit of a bad apple who will only respond to me, so I feel like I'm doing something worthy.

Only at the kids school, i am a parent governor so sit on the decision making board (i ran for my post on there as i am young end of the parental demographic for the school, i'm fairly representative of the over all socio-economic status of a large % of the families with kids at our school and i'm one of the few large family mothers, in general school governors tend to be middle age, middle class, nuclear family and christian) for the school, i help out on art days, book days, fayres, fetes, tea days, sports days- you get the picture LOL I have been part of a safer routes for schools initiative trying to get the kids to walk more and clean up the environment around our school in conjunction with the police, i'm currently involved in healthier schools movement too and also trying to establish a centre in our neighbourhood that will directly help families with children in poverty (over 85% of families with children in our neighoubrhood exist below the british standard poverty line- my own included.)

I love RMH volunteers!!! There's been more than once I've been kept same by them. I especially loved the fact they used to hand deliver me Starbucks if I had been up all night with Maia at the hospital.

As far as what I volunteer for, right now it's nothing. Sadly, fulltime study takes out all my available spare time. I did used to go visit all the new mothers at the hospital as a Nursing Mothers visitor...and I do knit hats for "our" RMH, but I don't really see that as volunteering. I am looking into signing up as an overnight volunteer for the house though...I figure I can do that once a month or something.

Not since we moved here. I've been trying to put together a charity knitting group but that's been going very slowly. I've been assuming we'll be moving "in a few months" since we moved here a year and a half ago, so I keep putting off getting involved with anything.

At the moment, no. Steve works in our church library and that is volunteer work. I put in a good number of hours working on music for our church, but that is a paid position.

Once my four children are past this very needy stage of life, I will be able to do more volunteering like I did before I had kids. Right now, I have to have a bunch of volunteers help ME out if I'm going to volunteer, and that seems rather silly to do. :giggle

Mine has changed. :giggle I am now a member of my high school's Women's Council. I went to a fairly prestigious Catholic college prep school in Chicago. One of the cores of the school's philosophy is "men and women for others". There are volunteer opportunities for students, teachers and alum. Upon joining the Women's Council last month, I will have the opportunity to do a service project every month.

Yeah. I "volunteer" at Mike's house every freaking day. I clean it until it sparkles for (gasp!) no money:whatever

In that case, I volunteer too! :lmao

The only time and space I really have for volunteering right now is within church ministry. I'm in the Praise Team, help with our monthly yard sale, teach Sunday School for the early teens, cook meals for the Bible study and take meals to people when needed. That's all I can manage now.

I volunteer at the kids school and Brocks Daycare. I would love to do volunteer work elsewhere, but right now I just don't have the time!

I volunteer for a breastfeeding support group and am thankful it's a mom-sized job, because I couldn't manage something more involved right now.

Not really. I have a hard time finding time. So my contribution is that I give blood whenever I can. Right now I can't as I'm pregnant but I plan on doing it when i'm done.

I did volunteer once though to help with community Christmas program that my MIL runs. I helped people go to the right tables to get the christmas presents they needed to christmas. I enjoyed it.

I volunteer at the girls schools a lot. I was actually just asked to be a vice-president at the high school next year. I don't think Sydney is as excited as I am.

I hadn't even thought about helping out at RMDH and I used to work on campus one block away. I am going to have to check in on that.
