I have found two places that have something that will work.

Yesterday we got Rai's foot cast for a new orthotic and the guy told me about Neos (http://www.overshoe.com/recreational/products/). They are boots that go over shoes yet have more insulation and traction than galoshes. They can be a bit pricey but they look like a good option for an older child or adult with AFOs.

While poking around, I found On The Go Boots (http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=411755) for toddlers. Two of the reviews are from parents of children who wear AFOs. They look like a good option.

I just want to pass this on for anyone else who might have been as frustrated as we have been for years with this issue. Also, if you know anyone who's kids wear AFO's, please pass it on. Chances are they have sore backs like I do from carrying their kids across snowy parking lots for years.
