It got even better! :giggle One of the boxes of Life cereal I bought had a weird metallic flavor to it(the other three boxes were fine). So, I called Quaker to tell them about it, and they apologized and sent me a coupon for a free box. But, as so often happens when you call to complain, they sent me MORE than a free box. I got two coupons for $4 off any Quaker products. :thumbsup So, yesterday I went to the store and bought two of the largest size of Life, which were something like $3.95. I got to checkout, though, and they rang up on sale, but the coupons still gave me $4.

So, I figure that after the $8 in coupons Quaker sent me, my $3.66 shopping trip is now down to free or better. :D

If you ever buy a product and it is not the way it should be, DO take the 5 minutes to call the company...quite often you will get a replacement plus more. I have a package of defective Reynolds wrap sitting here at my desk, and I am going to go call them today. ;) and I don't feel the slightest bit guilty doing so, because they guarantee their products to be of high quality.

Wow, Kristen... I'm always impressed by your shopping trips. YOU ROCK :D If you could be a fly on the register while I check out, you'd probably sigh a WHOLE lot... LOL.

:giggle Well, I probably wouldn't sigh too hard, because you have money to be able to go shopping for more than $3.66. :p See, God knew I'd be in a situation where I needed this kind of expertise, and that you wouldn't, so I think that's why I got them. You got the earning skills, I got the frugal skills. LOL

HA! I KNEW I WASN'T IMAGINING THE WEIRD FLAVOR!!! I've been telling my mom all these years that some boxes have that problem. And she usually had purchased them on sale and wouldn't do anything about it and still expected us to eat it and then got ticked when we wouldn't. Nice to know I'm not crazy!

Yeah, and you're so GOOD at it, which is the best part... I used to be really frugal (if anyone can even imagine) when I was much younger. I started doing the grocery shopping for the family when I was only 12 (NO LIE) and there were 6, then 7 of us on a budget of about $75 a week. This, of course was in the early 90s. I used to have coupons and I would go to food pantries for good freebies, etc. Now, though, I travel a lot - meaning, my commute and going here and there eat up a lot of time - so I don't have time to look for deals... if that makes sense, at all :dunno

Excellent! Definitely call for odd products---my husband emailed Breyer's ice cream once because we bought a half-gallon of raspberry chocolate chip---and there were no chips!! :dunnoThey sent us six coupons for free half-gallons.

Awesome! I've had that same problem with Life cereal on occasion. Weird. I wonder what causes that? I've never thought to contact the company about it, though.
