I am really, really annoyed that I have to try to figure out how to "sell" myself when I have NO skills, when Sean has tons of skills, a great work history, and could easily be making more than enough to support us if he put the effort in to look for a job. I understand he is busy with work, but it's not that hard to get a resume together and get it out there.

Seriously, given his skills and experience, he could make, by himself, twice what we're making now together. But like seven years ago when we were first married (and before he got his master's and a whole lot of research experience) he went through a training program with a computer consulting firm that went under because of the big tech crash, right before they could place him, and then he had a hard time finding a job. So now he just drags his feet so much on applying. He only has the job he has now because I hounded him every day for months about it, and it was the ONLY job he applied for, and he had a class with his boss so he knew her!

I'm really feeling very annoyed and overwhelmed. There is a very, very slim chance that I'll be able to get a FT job paying around $25K or so. There is a really good chance that Sean could get a job paying $60K or more. And yet he just won't put himself out there.

I really need him to step up on this one, because it would make our lives so much easier if he would just start putting some resumes out.

Lori, I understand what you are talking. Have you considered asking him to send his resume to a headhunter? Heck, send it to them yourself. :)

That's a good idea. He's mainly looking for university research jobs, but he's willing to take something else, so that's definitely one avenue to consider.
