I have finally caved in and will let him go to his first pre-teen dance. He is in Grade 7 and these are for age groups of Grade 5 to 7. He is SO excited about it, because all of his 'cool' buddies will be there (from baseball, other sports, etc that do not go to school with him) The general attendance of these dances are "good" kids, not mini-gansters, so that is a relief.

I was able to put this off for a few years, but I figure that with the limit of Grade 7 he should be okay. I just worry about bad influence, but this pre-teen dance is put on by the City and there is lots of supervision. Once you leave the dance, you cant come back, you are pre-registered to attend.

My thing was 'why let him go now when he still in elem school'. he says that its not for the dance, but just for to hang out with his friends.

He is definitely growing up! I hope he has a good time. I remember that age and yeah-all we did was hang out.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe this is the same little guy you had when I first knew you. /fogey

If I remember pre teen dances, they consist of boys huddled in groups and girls huddled in groups, with the very occasional giggly couple dancing.

awwww- he's not allowed to grow up- he must have been Jude's age when i met you :eek (which means it'll seem this fast until Jude is a pre-teen)

I hope he has a fabulous time- i think it'll be entirely safe and he'll have fun, i recall going to them at a similar age and I'll be allowing Chase to go when she asks

yeah, its a toughie. I have also been called into the pricipals office about him. I have to go back at 11am to discuss a "disturbing" essay he wrote plus some outburst he had at school yesterday :(

Yeah, gotta love those hormonal years
