View Full Version : When did you first drive after your babies were born?
How long was before you were behind the wheel?
I think I drove pretty quickly after Thomas, but I don't remember. We had one car at the time, and Sean took it to work, so I mainly took the bus. But I'm pretty sure I drove to Thomas' two-week check-up, so I was driving then.

I think with Takara it was about 2 weeks and with David it was about a week.
It was within a few days each time.

I think with James it was six days or so, and with Dylan it was a number of weeks before I could manage after the c-section.

I drove myself and my mom back to my apartment after having Morgan. I don't remember anyone telling me I couldn't. I think, if I remember correctly, that Dave had his truck there and went home in that.
I think it was probably a week with the other ones - once my mom left town or Dave went back to work.
2 days. Brayden had a Dr's apt. and dh wouldn't get his lazy @$$ out of bed, so I had to take him.

About a week or so. I hardly ever drive, but DH had to be taken to the airport. The bum went to Miami for a junkit.

After my C, it was about 5 weeks until I felt that I could comfortably slam on the brakes with both foot, like my midwife said.
It sucked, but at least my terrific MIL came up to help out after CJ used up his month of paternity leave and she drove me everywhere.

5 weeks after my C-section, partially because my mom warned me that driving uses muscles I didn't know I had. (She had two C-sections.)
Within a couple of weeks after my vaginal birth, because I was climbing the walls home alone with two kids. LOL

I can't remember with Tara. Just remember the feeling that everyone on the road was out to kill me and my precious passenger lol.
With Marcus, I waited three weeks after the c-section. I felt fine, and Tara had to get to all her after school activities.

Hard to remember, but definitely within the week.

B/c of my C/S, I was supposed to wait two weeks. I think it was more like two days :) Even the nurse who told me to wait two weeks was like, "I'm not going to report you if I see you driving."
I guess I just never felt quite as incapcitated as you're supposed to after a c/s.
With Robert it was about 2 weeks I think after his c-section. With Rhayan it was 1 day after being released from the hospital after her c-section. She was sent back to the hospital for jaundice and Patrick stayed at the hospital. I drove the big ole truck to and from my parents house to sleep.

Emily, a few days. With Eleanor I had an emergency c-section. They told me to wait awhile (weeks) I think I drove up the road to Walgreens a few days after I came home from the hospital.

It was probably about two weeks. Not because I couldn't drive, but because other people offered to drive for me.

Not very long...maybe a week with the older 2. With Tristan it was a bit longer, but his was a much more difficult birth.
