She has been in the adolesant department of the mental hospital for just over 10 days. 12 days ago, my sister took 73 tablets and washed them down with Bourbon. Mum says she was a perfectly happy 14 year old on the computer when she and Wayne went to bed. Hours later, my 16 year old brother came upstairs and found my unconsious sister on the floor.

She was taken to the hospital, where she was assessed for 12 hours, and then admitted to the mental ward. She has been attending school daily in there, and she has sisnce cut up both arms with a razor blade from a shaver, and when that was taken off her, she scratched the skin from both her arm and hand until she bled.

My Mum is a wreck, she blames herself entirely. I have gone through the emotions of devastation, being scared and now I am angry. I went back and started seeing my counsellor the other day because I know next comes depression, and I have worked far too hard to go back there. Apparently my sister cam out yesterday for overnight release and will go back in tonight. She says she is talking to a psychologist in there, however I doubt she really is saying what she needs to.

So there, that is what has consumed my life for the past almost 2 weeks. That, and Paul looking for a job, but that is a whole other post.

If you read this, I thank you!

I am really sorry to hear this, it is shocking how much we under estimate pressure on teens. I know i was self harming at a similar age and the counselling does help. She is doing the right thing by recieving the treatment available.

I hope she can find alternate ways of dealing with her issues soon.

I'm so sorry. Do you know if they are combining drug therapy with counseling?

Thanks ladies. The last time I spoke she wasn't undergoing any medical treatment with drugs, but there was some talk of looking at putting her on them. I haven't heard any more on that situation yet.

Thanks all for your thoughts!
