After surgery my OB told me they had to remove my bladder from my uterus because apparently they fused together since the last c-section. I've been trying to look up more information about it online, but haven't really found anything helpful that wasn't hysterectomy related. (Although, there was a little useful information there at least.)

Anyways, anyone know what its called or had it happen to them?

I have no idea what the technical name is but my MIL has alot of issues with fusing from scar tissues as she has had 4 c-sections, tubal sterilisation, surgery for ruptured ectopic, surgery to remove an ovary, hysterectomy- the list in endless, i think around 10 abdominal surgeries before age 40 she had and as a result she has reached the point where she has to attend a pain clinic as they can't risk any further abdo surgery for the issues causing her the pain, my MIL is not a weak woman either, just fear her bladder would rupture if they risked more surgery. I know with her it was a case of scar tissues building up.

My aunt, who had nine babies, had the placenta attach to a spot in her uterus where it had already attached before(so I guess it burrowed deeper than it should have). She had a M/C, and when they did a D&C, she started bleeding incredibly, and they ended up having to do a hysterectomy.

I'm not sure where the placenta burrowed-it's been 5 years now and I'm fuzzy on it. I do know this was a problem because of how many times she'd been pregnant(9 live births and two m/c)...her uterus was short on new spots for the placenta to attach.

Do you know Kristen it was only when pg with loks and they said it was anterior placenta I has no idea it could only use each spot once effectively- makes sense really as each pg baby has had plancenta higher up at 20 week scan until finally loks was anterior placenta.

yeah, I had no idea about that either, until this happened to my aunt. You gotta figure, though, that if you've got 11 previously used spots in your uterus, the odds of having this happen were pretty good.

I'm very happy to be stopping at four!

I am not 100% on this, but I think it's called an adhesion. An acquaintance had the same thing happen to her. (She had tried for a VBAC with her third, but they found the bladder/uterus "stuck" when they went in.)

I am pretty it is called adhesion too. Scar tissue can do it as it heals. We were supposed to massage Rai's scar to keep it from adhering to skull. Of course we did this after she had healed.;) I still do it out of habit when I wash her hair.
