View Full Version : I don't like nursing babies with top teeth.

I just had to say that. It's not that Zoe bites me, but her top tooth just irritates my nipples, esp. once she's been nursing on one boob for a while. It's like this mild scratching feel, and it annoys me no end.
I'm not going to quit, obviously, since she is not good at taking a sippy cup or a bottle(although, she did managed to latch on to a bottle yesterday, so there is hope that she will figure out a sippy cup one day too! LOL) But this is reminding me of why I've never been too terribly tempted to keep on nursing my babies for years. :giggle

I know what you mean Kristen. I remember that with Caleb.

:hug That sucks. I hope she learns how to use a cup soon.
I never particularly liked nursing, period. I remember the feeling you're talking about. It's kind of like a nails-on-the-chalkboard feeling, if that makes sense, one of those things that just kind of gets under your skin.
Hopefully she'll find a position that's more comfortable for both of you soon!

I understand how you feel. I gave birth to a bunch of biters, when they got top and bottom teeth we called it quits.
**la-la-la** hands over ears here as i am so not listening to anything teeth & nursing related (all my kids seem to cut teeth early and Loki is my first bf baby so i am dreading it- little so and so already clamps his gums together and shakes his head if he is not happy now :eek )

Lori, yes! It's just like that...fingernails on the chalkboard. I try and ignore it and not think about it too much, but sometimes if she's been nursing on one side for a while, I just can't take it anymore and have to take her off and switch her to the fuller side.
Beka-Zoe is almost 12 months old, so it's not like this has interfered terribly with our nursing relationship. and the bottom teeth aren't a problem at all...it's just the top ones that irritate me.
