View Full Version : Do you do anything fun for Valentine's Day?

We don't usually do anything ON 2/14, as it's too hectic on that day, but on the weekend around V-day, we usually get a carryout seafood dinner from a local seafood market and eat it here after the kiddos go to bed. Much cheaper and calmer than going out. Plus, no babysitter is required. :D

I did do something a little bit different this year. I thought of 14 small-ish things to do for Steve...some of them were small presents, some were things to cook/bake for him(things I normally don't have time to cook), and some of the stuff can't be discussed on this board. :boink :giggle So, every day, he gets one surprise, and he is LOVING life. LOL Steve lives for holidays and presents and such(gift-giving is his love language), so this is right up his alley.

You are an awesome wife Kristen. I bet Steve will love all of his surprises. :D We are not doing anything this yr. We bought ourselves an eliptical (something we have both wanted for awhile) as our present to each other

We don't have anything planned. That day I'll be at crafts with my homeschool group from 1-3, then I come home and make dinner for 20 people at church. Not too romantic. ;)

We haven't had a night to ourselves in over a year, so we're thinking we're going to take one of Sean's coworkers up on her standing offer to babysit and go to dinner and a movie the Friday or Saturday after Valentine's Day.

On the 14th I'm going with Thomas' school to see Sesame Street Live, which will be fun, but certainly not romantic. :giggle

Normally we just go out to dinner, generally not even on the 14th (but I love any excuse to go out to eat.)

This year, since it's the last one without a kidlet, he's taking me on a day trip across the border to shop and go to the same restaurant we went to 4 years ago on our first Valentine's day together. I'm ridiculously excited. It's nothing major, but it's what I want to do and I know it'll be fun and bring back many happy memories.

Daniel, if by chance you decide to check in here, back out slowly now! You have been warned.

I made my grandfather a simple cabled scarf when he was ill, and Daniel loved it and said he wished he could have one like it in oatmeal. I got some really luxurious alpaca/wool yarn in a greyish oatmeal color and I'm making him the scarf. I also got him an old advertisement featuring Tintin and Snowy - he LOVES Tintin, and the most successful anniversary gift I've ever given him was his Tintin watch. This is a canvas poster, and I'm going to try to find a frame for it. We're going out the weekend after Valentine's Day, as well. I'm also hoping to find some nice undies or something, but honestly, my sense of humor really gets in the way here. I end up laughing hysterically at most lingerie.

No, we haven't planned anything. He reckons he is going to pick some flowers out of the garden, but I told him he isn't allowed coz it is so unoriginal. LOL I think he will think of something sweet, even if it is flowers I will still like it. :)
