And yes, I know we all work while at home, but I was wondering more specifically if anyone does a paid job or runs a business out of their home. What do you do? Do you enjoy it? Is working at home distracting?

I have very much scaled down my teaching right now, but I do teach music from home. I teach violin mainly and it is ok. But I am not meant for teaching. I don't have the patience and while I know how to do something, I sometimes find it hard to convey to someone else how do to it.

I have a side job administrating a website and get paid a little for that. It requires me checking in daily and giving new members information. Its NOT a parenting website ;)

I also am playing around with a small photography business. Its mainly a hobby and slowly working on my portfolio. Friends and family (and their friends) are getting good deals right now LOL

I work from home and love it. Its not enough to live on, but brings in enough fun money to be worth it. I set my own hours so I have a totally flexible schedule. I work when the kids are in bed or when DH can watch over them.

I do work from home, but I don't know if it counts, as I rarely bring in money. I get occasional work as a freelance writer. I'm about to start editing my first novel, which I wrote between wrangling small people and attempting to clean. And for a time I had a tee-shirt shop, but I mostly kept it a secret (seriously, my signature on 20ish was about the only place where anyone could find out about it), so it was a dismal flop. I may try again someday, but since my entrepreneurial instinct is nil, I will wait until I either gain some or have help of some kind.

Yes, I do work from home. My photography business really took off this past year and kept me super busy. I really do enjoy it as it has been my passion for quite some time. It can be distracting for me at times, especially since I homeschool too. Mainly it is hard when I have a session here at my house, then I have to figure out what to do with the kids and such. Luckily all the clients that have come here have been really laid back and haven't minded a kid popping in here or there to say hi. :)
The other hard part is spending the time proofing pics on the computer. It is almost like my dh doesn't realize that as actual work and he loves to bug me by asking me questions or asking me to do this or that for him. :rolleyes But overall, I love it. :D

Yep, I run my photography business from home. It has been my dream job for years and I am loving it. Things can get crazy but it really gives me a lot of flexibility since I can pretty much schedule sessions when I want. A lot of my work is on the computer and I do that while my kids are doing school since most of them can do their work on their own. Zechariah sits next to me while I'm at my desk so I can help him with some stuff, though. I don't do any work when Eric is home in the evenings because that's our time to spend together. :)

Yes, indeed. I work at home for the ULTIMATE Work At Home company, Alpine Access (www.alpineaccess.com).

I am a Recruiter. Which means -- I interview new candidates, after they have passed our Voice Audition and Tech Screens. I do a very thorough tech screen with them over the phone, I need to listen to them carefully to make sure that they use language free of slang, that they speak clearly, understand easily. Also I screen their Customer Service background and just see if they would be a good general "fit" for AA.

Additionally, once a candidate passes this screening test -- they then need to interview for SPECIFIC positions within Alpine, and I do these interviews as well.

I :love my job.

I'm like Erika-I teach music lessons(piano to be exact!) from home. I do it four mornings a week, and the moms of my students watch my kids for me. So, it's not too distracting working at home. It IS a little hard when I have a very young baby, and the baby wants me (sigh), but other than that, it works ok. Zoe is getting out of that stage now, and we're not having any more, so I think it should get much easier from here on out.

I like teaching, if I have to have a job. But, I would rather not work at all, because it would give me more time with my children and more flexibility in my life, esp. when it comes to going places with them. It is our plan to keep buckling down and working hard, with our jobs, and with fixing up our house, and then to sell it and move somewhere cheaper, so I will not have to work.

Madame works from home one day a week but fears her employer may change that arrangement. While I do wish I had the ability to work from home, my line of work makes that near impossible.

I have to do work from home, but I wouldn't say I work at home. I teach in a classroom, obviously, but all of my grading and prep work I do at home. I try to do a lot on the two mornings when I'm not teaching and T is in preschool, and I also get some work done at night or on the weekends when Sean watches him.

I love having the flexibility of doing part of my job from home, but part of what I like about working is getting out of the house for a while, so I don't think I'd want a full-time WAH job.

I've just started up my own business selling baby clothes adn things online (blossombabies.ie if you're interested...) but I;ve been totally neglecting it these days.

I find it quite hard to concentrate when DD is here, which is all the time basically. Her grandparents have her now which is the only reason why I'm on here!

I have loads to do with the site, I have winter stock which I got late and really need to get up so some might go before summer, but the people I bought it from still haven't sent the images and I don't want to use my own as they're not professional looking enough. I need to order summer stock but I have no money, I need to re-do my press release, I need to do some marketing, I need to get my name in with all the big companies in the area and womens groups, I need to do up posters, fliers and brochures and I need a drink!!!

I really hope it works out though because I have no real qualifications and don't want to have to go back to work, I love being with DD during the day, going to a ridiculous amount of baby group meetings, walking, it's better than I thought it would be! Now all I need is money.........

I work from home sometimes. If there's something that needs to be done and I'm at home with the kids, I can usually do it. Sometimes I work all day and other times it's just for an hour or so.

It's hard though to concentrate when the kids are running all around. I get easily distracted.
