‘Dry run’ attack forces Prince Harry retreat
Michael Evans, Defence Editor, and James Hider in Baghdad

Army chiefs fear that a fatal attack on two British soldiers in Iraq last week was a dry run for an attempt on Prince Harry’s life, The Times has learnt.

What do you think? If he goes, would it endanger more lives? If he doesn't, does it appear to be stepping down to terrorists?

I feel a great deal of sympathy for him- like his mother Harry is definately one of the more likable royals and he's shown an amazing dedication to his military training and career. He has a very grounded view of himself and appears to have a genuine desire to be front line with those he trained with and trained to command, that being said though i can understand why there are great talks of him being withdrawn- not primarily for his own safety but primarily for the safety of the troops serving directly under him as those men would be directly exposed to an increased risk of unreasonable standards as a result. I have sympathy with him- as a patriotic soldier who truly wanted to serve but i do think his stepping down from active tour is near essential.

I think Beka is right, it isn't necessarily for his own safety, but that of his unit, and British troops more generally.

That is how I feel about it too Beka. He has the unfortunate position of being a coveted target by terrorists because he is royal. But do think it would be unfair for other troops to lose their lives simply because of who he is.

Well I bet if you asked the other troops, if he is as dedicated a leader as they say the troops would be willing to lay down their lives for him as a leader, and not because he is a prince. If the question is no then he should not be allowed to go, if yes then let him go.

I agree with Beka as well.
