Today some loser decided to set fire to the library at our arts school here in the city causing $2 000 000 in damage. It's a K-12 school and classes are cancelled for right now. This really upsets me, in our already underfunded public arts school, they somehow have to come up with 2 millions dollars to repair the school and replace all of those books.

They've caught the loser, but I doubt he'll get much time because of our lovely judicial system.

Can you imagine, all those books just up in flames!

I know! I think classes are resuming tomorrow, but I am such a lover of reading, it just bugs me that they burned all those books.

I felt a shudder go down my spine thinking about this. My first association with burned books is Hitler, and the second is Farenheit 451. There's something very sinister about burning books, even when the intent may be less malicious and more nasty pranksterish.

Ditto. I can't even throw books away. I have to donate or recycle them or something. The idea of burning books is just ghastly and smacks of evil somehow.

They caught the guy. He was 23 & a res of the city. Students were allowed back into some of the classrooms today.

That school has been having a hard time of late.
