What film do you think everyone should see at least once?
And what film would you tell someone not to bother watching?

This can take days...I love movies and I have movies that I watch every so often since I was a teenager...theyre like part of my life...
Theres a movie called My life as a dog that is funny and touching and Id recomend it to everyone....nobody should die without watching Amarcord at least once...Cinema Paradiso is deliciously cute...Pelle the conqueror,Jean de Florette and Manon of the springs...My fathers glory and My mothers castle...Murmur of the heart,Lacombe Lucien...When father was away in business...The decline of the american empire and The barbarian invasions...Babettes feast...List is loooooong
Now I wouldnt recomend anything that my husband owns...the fact that he owns a movie puts it in the crap list automatically...He owns Rambo in collectors edition,Dude wheres my car,Eurotrip,Garfield the movie...So if he says Id love to watch this movie I already know its not for me
Just bumping this because i am redoing my selection list at the online dvd rental i use and i need inspiration LOL
Films i could do without never having seen.... Dead man walking, there's 2.5 hours of my life i shall never reclaim! Ugh just wasn't the quality film it's oscar nominations etc lead me to believe it would be.
I'm not going to recommend any to be honest as i have really really odd taste in films and i wouldn't want to be responsible for directing anyone else into the "2.5 hours of my life i shall never reclaim" line at my recommendation LOL

Right now I think everyone should watch Hero
It is one of the most beautiful movies I have seen in a long time and I watch it often.
Another one purely from a film sound and cinematography POV would be Apocalypse Now. Utterly stunning and revolutionary in its techniques.
And just have to add The godfather trilogy (yes 3 as well. It is a good movie, just nowhere near as good as the first 2).
And most Hitchcock.
ok they can go on the list LOL
What a great thread , I'm not sure I should be trusted to add mine but just incase I have to say the green mile is one everyone should see , as is its a wonderful life .
