Somehow the plug for the big freezer got unplugged. I think Robert bumped it but don't want to acuse him. So we've lost about200-300$ worth of meat and frozen veggies and food. Also, ALL the deer meat from the deer Patrick got in the fall. We hadn't used a lot of it yet. He was soooo upset. Now we had to max out the one CC card to buy more groceries to replace what we lost. It's been one of those days.

Oh no! That's awful! That reminds me of the time dh left the freezer open and a month's supply of breastmilk was gone! Grrrrrrrr!

Were you at least able to salvage some of the stuff?

ummm I think a package of smoked sausage because it's already cooked. Everything else was bad. It had been off for a while before we noticed. And the meat was on the top shelves so the juices went on the other foods.

ohhh balls- did you check your home contents insurance? Ours has a freezer clause in it to pay to replace food lost in the event of freezer malfunction/accidental defrosting.

Chase did it to my mothers when she was little (and Jude again when he was little- then my mother boxed in the switch before Dyl got the chance LOL)

we checked the renters insurance but since it was human error and not accidental like power outage or anything, there is nothing we can do. It sucks. Thanks for the suggestion though Beka.

Well I checked the insurance just in case but we have a $500 deductable and I'm sure there wasn't that much food in there so we're out of luck. Oh well. I guess it happens at times

ouch that's a big deductable, i doubt i'd make a claim with that cost to foot first either. Interestingly my sister told me if you make a claim on insurance they gain it back by upping your premiums next year so if you ever do make a big claim be sure to switch insurers the following year so they don't get the opportunity to do this to you.
