Interesting article. I wonder if public schools will carry it like they carry the Christian Science Monitor?

I've heard of the magazine, and I think it sounds great. I'm unsure if it should be carried in public schools, and am a bit leery of that, because although this magazine isn't pushing a particular religious agenda (it seems to be more about Muslim cultural identity, not religious doctrine), it could open the door for religious propaganda to be carried, which I don't think would necessarily be a good idea. I guess I'd see it more similar to a school carrying The National Catholic Reporter (which I like, but which is coming from a clear religious perspective) or World magazine (which is pushing a particular set of religious and political ideologies). I don't know if publications like that have a place in public schools--and I'd assume that, maybe at the high school level, they could--but I personally wouldn't want my child, before they were old enough to be critical about where their information is coming from, picking up a periodical at school that was very clearly pushing specific religious interpretations as fact. But, I also think that it's a valid point that it's my job to talk to my kids about what their reading, and not the school's job to keep them from reading anything, no matter what it is. So I don't know. Maybe as long as it was balanced--the school had available publications from a variety of religious viewpoints--it would be fine with me.
