What was the best advice you got before you were married?

Best~ I'd say the best advice we got was to get counselling from a couple in our church. It brought out a lot of questions and in depth conversations that we probably wouldn't have thought of.

Worst~ DEFINITELY the women who told me to get a private savings acount for if/when he left me and screwed up my life!:eek These weren't people who knew Sean or had even met him. They were only speaking from their personal experience.

the best? everyone argues, stay and work through it as it's harder to walk back in that it is to walk out (from my mother- married 32 years and counting)

the worst? the people who tried to give me advice for what to do if i wanted to divorce- really not the attitude to go into marriage with.

The most memorable? look after him, he's a good'un - my grandad pulled me aside on my wedding day to tell my this as he really thought alot of david being a hard working young man and a good father, my grandad died 6 days later- he'd very much hung on to see me marry.

I honestly can't say I got much advice either way.

ohhh i thought of another one- David's uncle who married into their family joked with me "You married a catholic, the only way out of this marriage is in a box" which had me trying not to laugh all the way through my blessing LOL

My mother told me to live with Joey before I even considered getting engaged. We lived together for 18 months before the wedding and I am so glad we did.

My best advice came from my gran , she told me no matter how hard it gets work throught it becasue it always gets eassier again , she has been married 53 years and counting so I took her advice and thankfully she was right , steve and I had some really tough times but we came through the other side.

worst advice - my mum telling me not to get married you will regret it - what can I say she was wrong

I didn't really get a lot of advice about being married. They were all too busy giving me parenting advice.
