:eek So glad I didn't read this before my flight. That sounds just horrible.

The title was a bit misleading... I guess I understand - however weird the whole thing is. :sigh
I don't even know what to say about that! I'm gobsmacked.
oh my life- are they going to compensate that poor man for the counselling he'll probably need after waking up next to a dead person? Seriously- they had nooooo idea how that man dealt with the subject of death and sat him next to a corpse??? My dh seriously goes into deep depression even at the discussion of death- something like that would take him years to work through

Methinks that if the airline deals with 10 deaths per year inflight, they need to come up with a better way of dealing with it.

What do you guys think they should have done with the body? An airplane has so little space, I can't imagine where they could put it.
I really feel for this guy and for the daughter. What an awful thing to go through!

Jeez...that's just too bizarre! You'd think they could have at least put the body next to someone who was awake, rather than having some poor guy wake up to a dead body sitting next to him! Too strange.

That's absolutely awful. Dead bodies are unpleasant even when you know you're going to be near one, but the shock of coming upon one unexpectedly would be terrible indeed.

Oh dear me....I think they could have handled it a little better. I'd have at least woken the poor guy up first.

I read about that this morning. I understand their reasoning with movingthe body and family to first class but how they handled the other passenger was awful. :(

Personally? I'd rather they propped her up in one of the bathrooms, and put a sign on it that said 'out of order'.

They also moved the family of the woman who died there though. I don't think they'd be too thrilled with her body being put in the lav.

ITA Des. I don't think there's anything wrong with the body being put in 1st class if there's extra room there but I do think that poor man has a right to complain! How unpleasant.
exactly- the poor womans family were going to be traumatised no matter what they chose to do but the other man didn't need to be if they'd have excercised some considerate thinking- they *could* have explained to him what happened and i am sure he'd have switched to sit in coach (compensated for what he paid for first class) to free up the entire row for the body & family rather than sit in first class next to a dead person!

Beka exactly my thought on it. Even if the first class was jam packed they could have offered him a seat in coach.
