Ok now i always looked at it as the majority of cloned foods are going to be vegetable & plant or cereal foods for the simple fact why would anyone go to the expense of cloning a cow/pig/chicken etc when you can breed them so easily? The animal still has to be pregnant & carry to term to produce a new one- whether natural inseminated or cloned- the animal still has to grow and be fed to become an adult animal ready for milking/harvesting as meat so cloning just adds to the expense so i can't see we'll ever have a situation where cloned cow milk or cloned chicken eggs are common place- and where they are sold if they are more expensive to produce then producers of these items would self-label to justify the higher price from those wanting the shock value of being able to say they buy cloned cow milk/eggs etc.

Does the idea of cloned fruit and veg bother me? No not really- we already screw around a fair bit with nature in terms of importing out of season fruits and veg to colder areas of the globe, freezing them, using pesticides etc so to me it's just another poke of the agricultural industry stick in reguards to them.

Should they be labeled? Absolutely, people may wish to avoid them for any number of reasons. I also think that genetically altered foods should have labels---if someone is allergic to fish they could potentially have a reaction to a tomato that has been altered with a fish gene.

That's as far as I think it should go, however. Requiring relevant information to the consumer is good----the consumer should be permitted to make their own decisions on whether to purchase such products.

yep- i agree with you there, like with all food products they should have to be labelled in case of allergies.

Yes, I think they should be labeled. I want the ability to KNOW what I am eating.

and generally I'm not at all down with Barbara Mikulski, but on this one issue, I agree with her. :giggle

I definitely think products should be labeled with this information. I want to know what I'm eating.

No harm in labeling it at all. People have the right to know just what they are eating.

I think they should be labled too. I would like to know what I am eating and I think everyone has the right to know.

Ick...that just doesn't sit well with me at all. I definitely think they should be labeled.

Think we could get products labeled for what hormones and antibiotics they've been injected with too? ;)
