A good friend lent me Eragon and it's incredible!!

What are you reading?

I'm reading a book that's actually a children's book (for older children, in my defense!) called Parallel Journeys. It tells the story of a boy in the Hitler Youth and a Jewish woman during WWII. It's really good, but I'm going to be reading something very light and fun after it.

Queen Bee Moms and Kingpin Dads. Never have I been so paranoid about other parents. Because they really ARE all out to get you... Kidding. However, I agree a lot of parents continue/revive 7th grade social behavior when they have kids. Sad. Anyone else read it?

Polly, I've never heard of it, but it sounds really interesting. I'll have to check it out. It might have to be one of my refund check books. ;)

I haven't read it, but it sounds interesting. My friend the preschool teacher has a theory that becoming a parent means only that people take all of the selfish, socially unacceptable behavior that they would normally stifle in themselves and lavish it all on their child(ren). Because, you see, it's not selfish if you're utilizing your selfishness on someone else's behalf. I'd argue, but whenever I want new clothes for myself, I go out and buy some clothes in a size up from whatever my kids are wearing. LOL

I'm currently reading a few books, but I'm jumping all over. I'm reading a textbook for class, a ton of knitting books, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, by David Sedaris, and Salt, which is a history of...go on, guess...salt. It's interesting information, but I'm frustrated with the book from the get go. The author has no idea how to order information, or even how to wade through the information he researched and find what is important and what isn't. It's like I'm reading the full sentences version of his notes.

Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. I only have a few pages left and then I will probably start Lisey's Story by Stephen King.

Girl Talk by Carolyn Mahaney and Nicole Whitacre. They're a mother/daughter set of authors, and the book is one developing a Biblical mother and daughter relationship. and considering 3 out of my 4 children are girls, I thought it would be a good book for me to read. :giggle

I'm re-reading the Mammoth Hunters by Jean M. Auel (probably for the 7th time). And I'm STILL trying to get through Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

Dana, how are you enjoying that Anthony Bourdain book? I really like his show and I wanted to get it from the library but there was a waiting list. I also have Lisey's Story waiting to be read.

I'm getting ready to start a class on Tuesday, so then I'll be reading "Dicipline with Dignity". I'm also reading "Bubbles A Broad" by Sarah Stromeyer. It is part of a series on a hairdresser turned newspaper investigative writer, and is funny!

Polly that really sounds like an interesting book! Thanks for the suggestion!

I am ploughing my way through What Happened Before He Shot Her by Elizabeth George. My mum gave it to me for my birthday. In October. Yeah, I'm a slow reader these days.

I am also reading the Narnia chronicles to B. We're up to The Silver Chair.

I just started Kelly Link's Magic for Beginners, which has been sitting on my nightstand for months and months. It's a collection of short stories, and I think I've been procrastinating on reading it because I love her first collection of short stories, Stranger Things Happen, so much, I'd be really disappointed if this one sucked.
